Believe Nate's numbers or polls. He said it feels like it is going to be close to him. why quote Nate's numbers on every show if he does not believe them?

(24,736 posts)I kinda missed this.
I think everyone is a little shell-shocked. Want to be giddy but terrified at the other choice.

(31,849 posts)Hasn't much of the recent commentary regarding Nate Silver been lamenting pundits' choosing "feelings" over Silver's numbers?

It's hard to take any pundit seriously (on either the left or the right) after this campaign.
It is certainly the possibility that the polls are as Nate mentioned, statistically biased against Romney. Maybe likely voter samples have been too generous toward Democrats this cycle. We don't know. What we do know is that the aggregate of polls in swing states is showing us that Obama has enough electoral votes to win. There is also the high probability of voter intimidation and suppression. There is also the possibility of outright fraud.
Going by "your gut" in this situation is ultimately meaningless. That's not what the guys at the top of Obama's campaign are doing. They've scoured just about every precinct in every swing state finding out likely voters and are trying to get them to the polls. Ultimately, we have to do what we can and hope the guys at the top (Plouffe, Axelrod, and Co.) know what they're doing.

(1,372 posts)Yeah, the polls look good, but those people who were polled need to actually vote for it to count. It's not done until the votes are in.

(1,828 posts)I'm not watching any of them until after. I woke up Saturday and decided the campaign news, for me at least, was done. I don't need to listen to the Rachels and Lawrences of the world throwing demoralizing shit around and bringing things down. I love them from time to time, but I'm enough of a nerve-prone Dem on my own. They don't have to cheerlead all the time, but damn. It's amazing how the GOP pundits show no wavering in spite of all the polls being against Romney. While Dems, in the face of growing evidence that victory should be at hand, publicly continue to wet their pants.
Sigh. It's the ONLY thing I wish we could be a little more like the right about.
