http://www.plunderbund.com/2012/11/05/true-the-vote-forged-signatures-to-get-observers-at-ohio-polls/Yesterday we reported that True the Vote was attempting to place observers at precincts in Central Ohio, focusing on African American districts. We also noted that there might be some problems with the forms they submitted to the Franklin County Board of Elections (FCBOE).
The FCBOE met today and determined that True the Vote had likely falsified the forms submitted for general election observers. The new observer forms, filed over the past few days by True the Vote representative (and Hilliard Tea Party Member) Jan Loar, used candidate signatures copied from a previous set of forms filed in early October
All but one of the six candidates whose names appeared on the original form had withdrawn permission to use their signatures prior to the submission of todays forms. During the BOE meeting Candidate Terri Jamison spoke up to say her name was forged on the latest round of forms.
The form for appointing observers reads election falsification is a 5th degree felony. Election officials have confirmed that there will be a post-election investigation of True the Vote.

(53,661 posts)But whoever turned in the petition, could be long gone. If it was a Republican, they tend to be anonymous and flee the scene.
In Washington state, they've been hired by the GOP to drive to people's homes trying so called 'help' voters by picking up and mailing their mail-in ballots for them!
As if they couldn't put it in their own mail boxes? When questioned, they run off. Amateurs, they may be, but hard to catch.
I know that after the Democrats win, we'll be busy doing what is going 'forward' but I'd love to see someone or some agency with the funding (hard to find nowdays) to go after each and every one of these and teach them that they will never get away with these dirty tricks again. Jail time is what I'm wanting, not a slap on the wrist that the James O'Keefe ilk have recieved.
I'm not disputing your method there, but damn they are slicker than... whatever.

(15,262 posts)The can arrest them when they show up at the polls, which they likely now will not.

(36,693 posts)...if they investigate post-election, how does that affect their "observers" today?
Can they still observe/obstruct?
Can they be arrested for interference or are they free to undermine democracy?

(70,516 posts).... we (me and the good guys) caught some problems w/ the true the vote
forms because they filled the forms out wrong.
They has the wrong precinct # as per location of the polling place on a number of their forms
example:
location Smith School 123 John St
Precinct 3 A
but the proper way was
location Smith School 123 John St.
Precinct 2 B
And i bet that was brought up when they caught the forged signatures

(22,000 posts)I've never heard of this before. Would be like a Class F felony in another state? lol
And now back to our feature film....
"F" is for Felony

From the webpage,
involves prison time if a weapon is involved or person had previous prison time.
Person may get community service or probation.
May be fined $2500 if individual or $7500 if organization (2010?).
Please tell me the information on this ehow.com is wrong.
The fine doesn't seem much of a deterrent to those with access to money.
Community service doesn't seem much of a deterrent to those who are supported by money.
Was hoping to read people committing a crime like this would get prison time.
Instead, if I understand what I read correctly, is more like a slap on the wrist.

(26,355 posts)You've been talkin' about vote suppressing again?... on Election Day? (/me punches the teabagger...)
I guess you think I'm kicking you, teabagger.
But it ain't so. What I'm doing is talking, you hear?
I'm talking to all those villains down there in Ohio.
I'm talking to all those villains in Florida.
And all those villains down there in Colorado.
And what I'm saying is there ain't no Koch's gold.
And if there was, how they wouldn't want to come looking for it anyhow.

(2,220 posts)Three precincts in my predominantly white, very liberal neighborhood are being targeted by these thugs. One of the reasons I chose to vote early is...well...I have a little bit of a temper.
