2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRepublicans grabbing onto Pres. Obama's cotattails
I know these incidents have been highlighted in other threads, but it seems so incredible I feel compelled to refer to them again.
If someone had told you a year ago that at least two Republican US Senate candidates - Brown in Mass., McMahon in Conn. - would be looking for votes by invoking Pres. Obama in ads and leaflets, would you have believed it?
Granted, Mass. is bluer than blue and Conn. is right there, too, but seeing a Brown TV ad that lingers pn a picture of him chatting with the President in the Oval Office is pretty jarring. It brings to mind all those stories early this year featuring Democrats running away from the President so they'd have a shot at survival.

(4,551 posts)Wonder what Romney thinks of the fact that the Republican Senate candidate for Connecticut is trying to use Obama's popularity in the state to get herself elected?!
Hadn't seen that...
god almighty that woman is a menace...

(4,551 posts)McMahon is hoping that voters will pick Obama & her instead of Murphy.
Apparently some Republicans are annoyed and it may actually discourage them from voting for her.

(8,391 posts)started playing an ad that has the President himself urging CT voters to vote for Chris Murphy.
Linda McMahon counts on people being stupid. I don't think it will work.

(3,003 posts)Is there any chance of voting out State Reps. Harry Accornero and Susan Delemus? Those two wingnuts are birthers who made total asses of themselves before the NH Ballot Law Commission last year when the commission voted unanimously to place President Obama's name on the ballot.

(489 posts)It is lunatics like them who make folks think of my home stats as the wing-nut capital of the world!
State rep races are very fluid because we have so many state reps - 400 of them. It was Democratic from 2006-2010, before that disastrous tidal wave wiped us out. There's a shot they could lose if the turnout is significantly greater than it was two years ago, but it's hard to predict.

(3,003 posts)I was in absolute shock when I saw how those two ELECTED OFFICIALS (!) acting like angry, spoiled little children.
I loved how Accornero first started to say "You're going to face the American people--uhh--I mean, the citizens of Laconia?" He suddenly remembered that most Americans know the birthers are lunatics, so he quickly substitutes his tiny district which probably has no more than a dozen people living in it! Jackass!!

(666 posts)McMahon has been running an add for over a week now in which she has 4 people (2 of them African American)
stating they will vote for President Obama and Linda McMahon. Yet I have heard no complaints from any republicans regarding this add. Again, anything to get elected. I have not seen the Brown add.
