Don't curse the mealy mouth Chuck Todd and all of the other idiot pundits, thank them.

Frankly we should be happy that the media is continuing with the 'too close to call' business.

They will continue to scare our people to death and help motivate them to keep standing in line.

Our folks, especially in places like FL, have to stand in line for hours and they don't need to hear how
far ahead we are in early voting, they need to hear that the race isn't over until they get over the finish line.

So when Todd (or some other pundit idiot) says "too close to call" stop clenching your jaw and put down the projectile
that you are about to launch at the TV.

The only way that we can lose is through complacency and they are giving us the tools we need to make sure our
people go all the way to the finish line.

2. I am reluctantly coming around to this line of thinking

Somehow this whole "horse race" thing, though not accurate, has created an excitement about getting to the polls. I think it has helped to increase this sense of "something our entire nation is doing". It is sad that it takes a media narrative to do that, but I think it has worked to create a kind of group feeling. Like voting is cool.

Toad's frantic rearranging of states on his Magic Board reminds me of some 21st century frantic Marx Brothers routine--only without the humor. He just needs a duck with a Groucho mask to drop out of the ceiling and tell him to shut his mouth.

that he doesnt expect a concession speech before noon tomorrow..to close to call this evening??
Could these right wing hacks have some sort of advanced knowledge that the fix is in..
....I voted in my first election in 1968..never in my lifetime would I have expected to worry about an election theft in this country(So far I have witnessed two)Its too damn bad we have to worry about elections being stolen...
In the past the United States has been a part of a UN delegation that has traveled the corners of the earth to supervise elections and make sure they are fair and without incident..But yet we cannot have that piece of mind here in the USA..Its shameful.
.....And its time we make this a top priority to have something done in the first session of Congress

12. You can say that now, but if we have another 2000 on our hands tonight ...

you will understand why the MSM has been pushing that meme. That all really started about 3 weeks ago when Rove saw that Romney's bump from the first debate was starting to skip away. Rove put up the good fight, but mainly he started to set the table for disputing the outcome. As we saw in 2000, that is about 90% about influencing public opinion. The public doesn't want the election to be undecided. If they can be led to believe "Well Romney probably won it." that makes it much easier for the Rove people to bully their way through, just as they did in 2000.

It is important. We can only hope that the margin is clear enough so that Rove cannot follow through on this strategy.

13. Its a valid point. However if we had been a little more scared in 2000 and not so complacent

maybe we could have avoided the whole disaster.

I wonder what the meme was on election day 2000. Do you remember?

15. I think it was considered a very close race
Tue Nov 6, 2012, 01:16 PM

It wasn't so focused on a swing state strategy, and was certainly not as focused on Ohio down the stretch.

I don't recall the actual polling, but I can't remember ANY election where the polls told a fairly clear story and the pundits insisted on calling the race "even".

I understand most of the pundits don't want to keep lots of "wiggle room", but they should at least be saying, the swing state polling indicates Obama has a very strong advantage, and it would take a major upset for Romney to win.

But when you think of it, the MSM wants the polls NOT to be discredited. The polls are the main "evidence" they use to scare candidates into spending a billion dollars for ads on their networks. So it serves the MSM's needs to say "The polls are mysterious and they say anything could happen."

The right hears that and may go vote because they think they have a chance.

I'd be just as happy with an election that didn't have all the fucking mind games...
