Problems in OH.

Somebody just called me from OH (Cuyahoga). They tried to vote. Filled a paper ballot. Ballot is supposed to go into a scanner and the voter is supposed to get a receipt. But the scanner was broken. So they had to just put the ballot into a machine. I tried to call vote protection hotline but they were pretty much useless.
The ballots are not being scanned in the most democratic area of OH.
Who should I contact?

Another woman had experienced the same thing at the precinct. I suggest you post this in GD if you don't get an answer right away. But you could also called the Supervisor of Elections for Cuyahoga and give him an earful.

Please send (urgent) tweets to Hillary, every state/local official you can manage, journalists like Andrew Sullivan, and Joan Walsh of Salon.com, also filmmaker Michael Moore has been involved with this so you could tweet him with your account of the serious problems with the voting machines.

This situation needs to be supervised immediately.

it's because our system is so fucked up, and they run it like school districts. Each County does the voting facilities, and if they don't have as much money from property taxes and such, they have shitty or non-existent voting facilities.

We have to change this, but after each election that is stolen, or we see so many people disenfranchised, the people in power forget about it. It needs to be standardized, even if it's just a Statewide effort so that EVERYONE has the same damn access to the same equipment, not relying on local Election boards to do it.

Tue Nov 6, 2012, 01:26 PM

The people who are office holders and run the elections take that stuff seriously. Don't be so skeptical and conspiratorial as to think your county clerk's are okay with voters not having their ballots counted. Calling the appropriate official on the ground can get something done, as opposed to calling people who have to launch investigations which won't matter after the fact.
