2016 Postmortem

Voted in my VERY republican precinct in Henrico County.
Diebold machines, no paper trail. This is new.
Line was 15 mins long. Not bad, but typically there is no line.
All went smoothly until I was leaving. Middle-aged, obviously republican, guy walks up to the older man passing out Romney propaganda...he says, "are they taking green cards for ID today? har, har, har"...older guy chuckles. As seriously as I could I said, "yes, actually, they just took mine". Got a few dirty looks from those two but a few laughs from others walking in...

(329 posts)2 hour wait though =/ . The good news - lots of diversity. A lot of latinos and AA's there...just shows how NVA is changing and im on the southern edge of NVA. 12 years ago when I voted...I saw only a handful of non whites.

(11,605 posts)Is the 15 minute wait a bad sign?

(916 posts)At the table where we were handed our ballots, the old gasbag next to me said he WANTED to show his ID. And the poll worker waiting on him, said she agreed with him, but that he was required to do so. Then the poll worker waiting on ME, said to her fellow-worker, "An ID is not required and neither is your opinion!"
OUCH. Probably was a loooonnng day sitting there at the table together!
