I've been told that Virginia usually finishes counting much earlier than other BG states, so may be well known before Ohio or Florida.

(645 posts)And Obama won it by like 5 or 6 that year, NOVA takes a lot longer to count than the rest of the state, McCain was actually leading in VA for hours before NOVA came in.
I don't expect much different this year, but I might eat these words, I hope i do.

(4,119 posts)...the rural areas come in first and they are very red. So don't freak out if it doesn't look good in the beginning. Be patient!

(146,218 posts)My sister-in-law in Virginia just voted for Obama. We know for sure he's got at least one vote. She's in northern Virginia, too. Fingers crossed.
