GOP Convention Clusterfuckery afoot: Open carry with Neo-Nazis doing "security"

Petition for open carry at GOP Convention
https://www.change.org/p/quicken-loans-arena-allow-open-carry-of-firearms-at-the-quicken-loans-arena-during-the-rnc-convention-in-july-2

With neo-Nazis planning to go to Cleveland to confront anti-Trump protesters, the scene has been set for a potentially chaotic Republican National Convention next month. Police departments are already raising red flags about security at this year’s RNC, and one Republican delegate has told Politico that she fears for her personal safety.

Convention-goers can content themselves with other aging sports legends, including retired college basketball coach Bobby Knight and retired NFL coach Mike Ditka. And for entertainment at some of the ancillary events surrounding the official confab, look for Journey, the Beach Boys, Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry and Poison frontman Bret Michaels, Bloomberg reports. Other bands slated to perform at events in Cleveland include Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

she lives less than 5 miles from the arena; but more troubling, a (nearly) 100% Black neighborhood bordering the arena, with a major street connecting the arena to her community. If there is white supremacist problems, it will likely (possibily) spill over into her community.

for the fourth time in 3 weeks, I have implored her to come visit me in Arizona

I have no doubt that should the neo-nazis show up, there will be film at 11:00 and the cable shows will cut away from the carnage overseas.

But having lived through a riot, it's not what I would like my sister to see again.

there are about 20 "brick cities" (housing projects) and/or active gang zones between the arena and the nearest community that might be receptive to neo-Nazi thought.

They would lose their insurance coverage, and the venue would cancel the event. The petition is a fraud. While some people may have signed that petition in good faith (if not good sense), the genesis and much of the support of the petition is pure trollery.

http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article68642767.html

I don't know if the Cleveland police or Ohio state police will be able to ban open carry in the "Event Zone." They will certainly try. Many of the other items they are banning in the Zone are otherwise legal, so whatever emergency provisions they are invoking could be applied to firearms as well.

Nowhere in either link do I see any reference to "Neo-Nazis doing 'security.'" Your headline is misleading.

They've decided to carry their sweaty nitrocellulose in the same rickety wagon as their burning crosses.

People are going to get hurt, unless enough wisely choose to stay away.
