Related: About this forumPro-Fracking, Pro-Colonialism, Anti-Single Payer disapoints so the progressives fight on.
"Dr. Cornel West, a Bernie Sanders appointee to the committee, at one point called on progressives to "keep the pressure on" elites to bring about real change.
Sanders supporters also vowed to "take the fight to Philadelphia" to the Democratic Party convention in a last-ditch effort to pressure the party to support the progressive issues at the core of Sanders' presidential run. The convention runs from July 25-28 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Those opposing the TPP are hoping to force a floor vote on the trade deal at the party's convention. Both leading Democratic candidates publicly oppose the TPP."

Franking I'll leave to those who understand the issue better, and hopefully understand what is required to get off coal, oil and nuclear as quickly as reasonably possible.

(28,876 posts)...a defining moment in the downfall of the Democratic Party.
Let's hope it doesn't happen.
Feel free to scapegoat us "fringe" "far left" "purist" progressives, we'll serve as cover for handing Obama this defeat.

(13,871 posts)All Democrats agree today that the Iraq War was a huge mistake but that didn't stop many of them from voting to support Bush in 2002/2003. However, there were Democrats who voted against it back then despite all the Republican and corporate media cheerleading. The problem for Democrats and the TPP is that they will own it since it's our President who is championing it.

(54,770 posts)as and example, that was negotiated at same time. Don't think we can produce funds for everything we want -- healthcare, education, welfare, jobs, housing, food stamps, etc. -- trading among our selves or returning to Nationalism and America Firstism.

(54,770 posts)for the populace. Sometimes they screw up, admittedly, but don't think the TPP is one of those times, especially if one can recognize the importance of these agreements in ways not directly related to trade.
