GOP poised to endorse Donald Trump's border wall in platform
By Tal Kopan, CNN
Updated 2050 GMT (0450 HKT) July 11, 2016
Cleveland (CNN) - The Republican Party is set to give a formal endorsement to the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border espoused by Donald Trump, solidifying it in the party's platform.
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Amy Carnevale of Massachusetts, both on the Republican National Convention Platform Committee, successfully petitioned to have the language in the draft platform given to delegates changed to include mention of a wall during subcommittee meetings Monday morning.
After saying securing borders is of the "highest priority," the new language makes clear the party seeks a wall.
"That is why we support building a wall along our southern border and protect if all ports of entry," the new language reads, according to Kobach. "The border wall must cover the entirety of the southern border and must be sufficient to stop both vehicular and pedestrian traffic."

Trump didn't win by accident. Republicans support most of his views.

No mention of deporting 11 million people or banning Muslims.....
They are trying to appease Trump, but don't have the guts to disavow his other xenophobic policies, because they know they need the bigot vote.

(45,491 posts)4. The "wall" issue just shows how out of touch the GOP and their supporters are on immigration.
Sure, a wall might make sense in certain locations to aid law enforcement along the border, but a wall will do nothing to stop what they are calling illegal immigration.
The people they claim are here illegally for the most part, came here legally on student, tourist, or work visas and then overstayed.
To think that building a wall by Mexico would immigration is total nonsense.
