2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThis has to be the most awkward roll out of a VP selection in my lifetime.
First the three finalist names get leaked. Then the selection gets leaked, with official announcement planned for Friday. Then official announcement gets postponed, supposedly because of the truck attack in France - which I frankly did not believe was the reason. Then apparently rumors started to fly that Pence was not going to be the pick after all and Trump had to squash the rumors with a twitter release confirming that it was Pence. Apparently without informing the two runner ups Christie and Gingrich, making them look like chumps. Courtesy says that when you leak names like that you at least give them a call before making the official announcement so that they don't get blindsided. And now the rumors won't quit that Trump had second thoughts about Pence; the campaign can deny it all they want, it is not going away. And to top it off, the awful TP logo which I suspect is not going to survive a week - it is just too easy to ridicule in so many different ways. What the hell were they thinking?

(15,036 posts)have the wherewithal to make the show a success.
When Schwarzenegger first ran for California governor, those who supported him couldn't praise him enough based on how successful his films had been. But I always questioned them: Who made, say, The Terminator a success: Schwarzenegger, who played his role extraordinarily well and truly seemed to be a cyborg, or James Cameron, who wrote the script, told Schwarzenegger how to act, and knew how to block and pace the film to perfection. Look at the whole of their careers and the answer becomes painfully obvious.
If we needed someone from the movies to run our government, why settle for the schlub who was bossed around and told what to do all day. Go instead with the guy who put the venture together and knew how to make it a success.

(10,749 posts)We're exploring all options.
Well, we're looking at three options. All yuge. Trust me.
We're settling on one option.
Or two
One option. The best. A great option. Colonel, the football please.
What was the code again? Right, right. Trump1. Got it. Code entered. Missiles on the way.
No, wait. I was thinking maybe option 2 was more huge. Melanie's, what do you think? Junior? Jared? Other advisers named trump?
Can I get a do over?
You say North Korea is gone? That was yuge. Best mushroom cloud ever.

(35,699 posts)That wasn't the roll out. It was events after the convention and not a result of any planning by the candidate or the campaign.
