Republican women organize to support Clinton

Republican women organize to support Clinton

By Chris Moody, CNN Senior Digital Correspondent

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/02/politics/republican-women-organize-to-support-clinton/

"SNIP...............

Over glasses of wine and champagne Monday night, they kicked off the first steering committee meeting for a new organization: "Republican Women for Hillary."

Their motivation? Stop Donald Trump.

"It's really important that Republican leaders, especially Republican women leaders, stand up right now and say we're not OK with Trump representing our party," said Jennifer Lim, a group founder who works at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and has spent much of her life volunteering for Republican causes and campaigns. "This is not a position I ever wanted to find myself in. But it's important that when things like this happen that people speak up."

Lim's role as a leader within the new group is independent of her day job. But earlier this week, the Chamber clashed with Trump over his embrace of protectionist trade policies, which the business group opposes.

Many GOP women are legitimately against abortion, against same sex rights, against social programs and the like, but they also are profoundly disturbed by Trump's general attitude toward women and his temperment. I can't imagine how I would vote if the positions were reversed. If the Democrats had nominated someone so manifestly unfit for office with a GOP candidate with whom I disagreed on pretty much every issue. Fortunately I don't have that problem.

but threaten their birth control and that's where I think they'll draw the line. Pence is anti-birth control and an anti-abortion extremist even in cases of rape, incest, and threats to the life of the mother. He couldn't care less if a woman died from a high-risk pregnancy, even in cancer cases or ectopic pregnancies. He'd also yank a married woman's birth control and force her to have more kids than she could afford.

women have very little in common with Hillary, but the ones who want a sane -- as opposed to a mentally disordered -- President, are considering voting for Hillary despite their lack of agreement on the issues.

I am not the only one here who has left the dark side and come into the light. And it was not a 'Saul on the road to Demascus' moment. But a small thing that lead to a larger enlightenment.

So I welcome them and hope they continue to see the folly of their ways.

I hope the change is not limited to women!! But I agree. With the changing demographics even a 2% change in the white vote will sink the republicans.

Trump is doubling down on the Romney goal of getting enough white vote to win. In did not work for him and will be worse for Trump.

I agree this could be a watershed election. Not all republicans are racist and with trump exposing the naked ugliness of the base of the party, many will leave.

because I don't believe in alerts. You can have your say. Many of us progressive "idiots" are voting for Hillary and gladly doing so. But every single citizen has a choice and calling them idiots proves only arrogance and nothing more. Voting for qualities you support is not "throwing your vote away." Such an offensive statement.

Clearly states the idiots are progressives who throw their votes away-not voting for the Democratic nominee.

No violation of TOS and I would guess most here would totally agree.

Have a nice day.

On the campaign trail, it’s not unusual for the rhetoric to escalate and exaggerate as candidates vie for attention in a crowded media landscape.

But there’s no excuse for what we’ve heard this year, as candidate after candidate has thrown caution — and facts — to the wind when it comes to trade.

To correct the record, we’ve taken a closer look at some of the wilder and woolier proposals we’ve heard from candidates Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and Hillary Clinton:

I'm wondering how Lim will respond to Clinton's policy on TPP which seems sort of mushy right now and should she finally advocate against TPP .

It's pretty obvious trade policy is in flux much to the chagrin and frustration of the corporatist chamber of commerce. Does anyone need the chamber to inform us of that fact?
