A new report out Tuesday suggests the blame for Melania Trump's plagiarized convention speech could fall more squarely on the former model and complicates the narrative that a speechwriter or other staffers were to blame for the high-profile embarrassment.
Two anonymous sources briefed on the matter told the New York Times that Matthew Scully, a former speechwriter for George W. Bush working on contract, wrote an early draft of Trump's speech several weeks ago.
But Trump made substantial changes to the draft, with help from a Trump Organization employee, once she got her hands on Scully's text, one anonymous source told the newspaper.

The lack of accountability in that campaign, as well as the sheer laziness and carelessness, is finally biting them in the rear end.

(5,969 posts)I think Clinton or Obama see no reason to go after the candidate's wife and I would agree with that. But generally, Clinton seems to be pretty good in these scenarios. When someone steps in it or self-destructs, it is often best to just hold back. Especially now with all the changing stories and finger pointing going on, there is no need to do anything. The opponent is already doing the work for you so just let it unfold without causing a distraction.
Trump on the other side, is the exact opposite because he cannot restrain himself. And as a consequence of being a vulgar pig, he often draws the attention away from what would have been a bad news cycle for his opponent.
