2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBack in 2008, Joe Biden was NOT my preferred choice for V.P. Was he yours?
I was hoping he'd choose Hillary. I thought they'd make a good team.
Biden had diarrhea of the mouth sometimes, and I hated the way he handled the Anita Hill hearings. Truthfully, I hadn't yet been able to forgive him for that.
And yet what did I know? He's turned out to be a great ally for President Obama and a real asset as V.P.
That's why I trust Hillary to make the right decision FOR HER. She's been considering a number of excellent choices, but she's the one who will have to work closely with this person for, hopefully, the next eight years.
So I'm going to trust that she knows more than I do about what she needs and who can do the job.
She's got this.

(2,550 posts)Not sure what I remember in 2008 of my feelings.
Probably that Delaware was a small state.
I wasn't into politics back then.

(108,999 posts)hearings happened, and suddenly there was a name for what happened to almost every woman, at some point or other.
And Joe failed miserably to defend her. So did all the other men on the Committee.
So I didn't have the greatest feelings about him as VP but, again, I was wrong. Obama was right.
And that's why I think we should trust Hillary on this. She knows all these people better than we do, and she knows what she needs.

(24,054 posts)She is searingly intelligent, and I think that will serve her well in this decision.
That said, I wish we could keep the 2 we have for 4 more years. Love them both.

(24,054 posts)In a thread about that video, I commented that while the word awesome is so overused that it is practically meaningless, she truly is AWESOME!!!

Plus I trust HRC's people skills. It's one of her many strengths.

I was proven correct...so Hillary should listen to me.

(15,224 posts)His foreign policy was needed as was his showmanship. He also played the role of "mentor" to a young President.
Hillary has admitted that she is not the politician that Bill is. She needs someone who is exciting. In my opinion, that's not Kaine.
