I assume she's got a damn good reason but I can't imagine what it would be.

Biden is kind of exciting and Cheney was conniving, but Gore, Quayle, Bush Sr., etc were all rather unexciting.

People are saying really nice things about this guy like he's got a great reputation.

Right now the only thing that really matters is defeating Trump, and I just hope whatever Kaine brings to the table will help that happen.

but he's a loyal Democrat and he doesn't make mistakes, and his voting record is very middle-of-the-pack in the Dem caucus. Pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-gun control, anti-death penalty. Yes, he took until 2011 to be full-throated for LGBT rights, but if we don't allow our politicians to change their minds, then we can't call ourselves liberals.

Give the man a chance and don't immediately write him off because he's not Elizabeth Warren.

So did James Buchanan. I just don't think he's a very exciting (or progressive) choice. I have to think he was chosen because Clinton wanted to draw a strong contrast between the unpredictable, erratic and frightening garbage fire that the GOP has become with Trump as its leader, and a ticket of normal, sane, stable, reliable people who won't start WWIII. Still, I think others would have been at least as good.

Fortunately his replacement will be chosen by a Democrat, rather than a Republican (Baker or Kasich).

If you don't want to be upstaged, you pick someone who is boring and mediocre. It's like a singer carefully selecting backup singers; They are never going to choose anyone who is as good or better than them.

I get why he was picked: devout RC, did legit social justice missionary work, speaks fluent Spanish, has a good relationship with black leaders, no scandal, has evolved on choice and LGBT rights, handled the Tech Massacre aftermath well, can handle Pence in debates, and has never lost an election. Is a white male. Grew up in the Midwest.

And, getting VA would be a big help.

He's also close with Joe.

He is solid, especially with all of the international and domestic terror issues as of late.
