Clinton/Kaine: The Steady Hand of Real Leadership

I think this will be the abridged version of the Democratic ticket's pitch to America. I think after the chaotic (to put it mildly) republican convention, I think its clear that Clinton is going for a 1964 strategy against Trump. In 1964, President Johnson was up against a fringe, wild eyed extremist republican candidate in Barry Goldwater. Johnson warned that Goldwater was unstable, extremely naive, and would be ready to unleash a nuclear apocalypse at the drop of a hat. Johnson, on the other hand, was experienced, knowledgeable, and had a steady hand.

I'm willing to bet 84 pennies that this will be the plan against Donald Trump. Trump is erratic, he doesn't know what he stands for, he doesn't know what he is talking about, and is clearly just power hungry. His rhetoric is dangerous and frightening to a large majority of people (not just my assessment, that's what the polls say). Clinton and Kaine will be the calm, experienced, and above all stable alternative.

The one job they will have to do, if this is the direction they want to go in, instead of "exciting" such as Clinton/Warren is dispelling the one big myth of this election: people want a radical new direction and desperately want an "outsider". The establishment candidates, the people with elected experience in the republican party collectively received 17 million votes to Trump's 14 million. Both of the two major democratic candidates, neither of which I would consider to be a "radical" or "an outsider" received another 30 million votes. But let's do something despicable and go with the narrative pushed by some that Sanders is the "democrat's Trump", something with is obviously bullshit. The so called "outsider candidates", received 27 million votes to the establishment's 34 million. That means 56% of people voted for the "status quo" or "the known", even in the best terms for Trump. Only 1 out 3 people are hungry for "radical change" if the narrative is to be believed (it shouldn't be). That is the myth and it is just a myth. Few are looking for extreme social upheaval or a strong man quasi dictator as president to restore "law and order". A majority want a continuation of Obama's policies and people only want minor changes to deal with new challenges. Trump is an abomination that does not represent the next step forward.

Is Senator Kaine my first choice for VP? Not entirely. But do I think he is a hell of a guy and will make a great leader in our country for the next 8 years? Fuck yes, 100%.

Here's to Clinton/Kaine 2016 Now let's go crush that orange faced, shitty comeovered, racist asshole!
