A REMINDER FOR FENCE SITTERS, Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy turned 80 as of today.

Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is currently 83.

Associate Justice Stephen Breyer is currently 77.

There is currently a vacancy on the SCOTUS and the Republicans show no sign of relenting in their purely political maneuver of refusing to hold confirmation hearings for Merrick Garland.

The next president will determine the direction of the High Court for the next generation.

I understand some people don't want to vote for Clinton. I hope young people can understand what is at stake here: a woman's right to choose, Citizens United, voter rights, etc, etc, etc. The Republicans aren't going to stop trying to take away our rights.

President.

That is why not only winning the Presidency is important, but almost as important is having the Democrats control the Senate

Even though it has been pointed out in numerous threads, and elsewhere, that a VP pick from a state that has a republican governor like Massachusetts, risks the chance of not getting back the Senate.

That falls on deaf ears, as does the fact of actually looking at Tim Kaine's record, which is 90% progressive.

I have to wonder if some folks even understand how the government works

Seeing the big picture is everything. If we hadn't had the Robert court, there would be no Citizens United decision.

All of them could die or retire tomorrow and leave 4 vacancies on the court, and the Republican Senate will still refuse to hold hearings until a Republican takes the White House, even if that ends up being 8 years from now.

And the media will still play along with it as though it's a normal thing, and the Democrats in power will still try to play nice and reach across the aisle.

Yes it's a reason to stem further bleeding but Repubs will continue to stop progress at every turn and they will be aided and abetted by many other people.

perpetually outraged victims.

I'm tired of them saying 'win us over' and all we get constant whining. Cornell West was on the DNC committee and turned around and endorsed Stein. He pissed on the Dems.

Nothing will ever make them happy. I've no doubt that if Bernie was elected President they'd shit on him withing a year. Much like they're doing to Warren.

My candidate didn't win either. Doesn't mean I want the country to burn. Doesn't mean I want anyone to suffer while I sit in a corner whinging about how it wasn't fair--SCOTUS is a LIFETIME appt. Elections are every 4 years.
