2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTim Kaine is Boring? Sez Who?
Maybe it's just wishful thinking. I've been watching him speak in Florida. He's doing a terrific job, and his Spanish is good, too. He's not a native speaker, but speaks pretty well for an Anglo.
He's a good speaker, and will be a real asset to the campaign. Not boring at all.
Clinton/Kaine 2016!

(9,148 posts)SO DAMN GOOD TO SEE HILLARY NOT GOING IT ALONE ANYMORE!!
Love this man.
He is a very gifted speaker & knows what he's talking about.
He is nobody's fool and has seen close up, every ugly manipulating arm twisting dirty maneuver the GOP in DC has used.
Thank you Hillary for choosing Sen Kaine.
We knew you'd come through for us all. You always have.

And of course this most admired & loved, man & good friend,
Paul David Wellstone was an American academic and politician who represented Minnesota in the United States Senate from 1991- 2002.
How fortunate that you knew him as a close friend. I'm sure his memory is held close..
The greats, like Sen Wellstone should make us work to be better people.

(36,095 posts)Tim Kaine can speak as long and as often as he wants to, and I just adore listening to him.
He energy is welcoming, engaging, his loyalty is heartfelt.
He strengthens the level of trust people want to have in Hillary herself by virtue of her choice of Kaine to be the country's VP.
I am feeling so much better after hearing him today. And so will the country next week.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)He's going to be an incredible asset to the campaign. I can't wait to see him debate Pence.

(36,095 posts)Hillary needs to make an exhaustive list of just what Trump has absolutely no clue about on the geopolitical scene.
Then show what he has no clue about on the American scene.
She needs to burst the bubble of unchallenged competence in a man who won't even put his company out into the free market to be publicly traded.
How this hyperpatriarchal attention freak does anything is how he does everything.

(42,862 posts)... that Hillary's choice wasn't Bernie, or Elizabeth, or Nina. People saying those things probably felt entitled to a consolation prize, or a congeniality award, but they didn't get one. It has nothing to do with reality, nor does it reflect how they honestly feel about him. It's just an expression of sour-grapes and trying to foment discontent, doubts and "buyer's remorse".
They probably would have also said that Rip Taylor or Gallagher was "boring".
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)I didn't know him, either, but didn't automatically form a negative idea about him. Then, when I heard him speak, I immediately thought of the comments about him being boring. Comments made out of ignorance and a bit of spite, I guess.
What's really funny is over at another website that was started recently. There, you'd never know that anyone named Kaine spoke at all today. There must be a disconnect going on, somehow.

(8,203 posts)have never heard him speak - Kaine is a great example of a humble man - his story is compelling - so very well spoken - and comes across as genuine..not shrill, not hateful, compassionate - caring - thoughtful of others - a great start to what is going to be (as we all know) mud slinging and hateful rhetoric...from the man-child....
and Kaine is so young....58 years young..
Hillary made a wise choice...I'm ALL in....

(6,927 posts)I have a very low tolerance for ignorance and bigotry.
I may watch some of the Democratic Convention ( I do not need convincing). I do want to hear Kaine speak again, I watched part of it today. I saw that Jennifer Granholm was going to speak and she is great.
The are things that I think we can expect that were not apparently evident in Cleveland...HONESTY, DIGNITY AND SANITY.

(28,017 posts)As I went through a bunch of screens looking for a particular one about Russia, the baltics, and the impact of Trump's statements on the regional politics there.
Then, I watched some clips of Gov.Sen.VP.Kaine.
I now change my mind. He is a great choice. And I have neither a clue nor an interest in his sex, boring or otherwise. Watch as our Little Fingers Who Screams Through The Night as he holds a pow-wow and attacks him on some shite thrown at the Gov some years back. Trump has to look at Kaine in a Pencive manner and wonder to himself, "Would that fat bastard or that Half-Term moronette from Alaska, or even some Hucksterbee-like bible beater - but one with a personality, have been better than Pence?"
Ahh. I actually feel better now. Much better than I thought I would.

(34,172 posts)Kaine confesses 'I am boring' in response to VP talk
Washington (CNN)Tim Kaine said Sunday he agrees with the most oft-cited criticism of him as a potential vice presidential candidate, saying that it's true, "I am boring."

(34,136 posts)I can handle boring along with all those traits. People used to say that Biden was prone to gaffes - but look at how great he has been as VP.
In the article you linked Kaine said, "But boring is the fastest-growing demographic in this country."
I'm listening to Kaine's speech from today (I missed all but the very end earlier) and the crowd that was there didn't think he was boring.

We're going to see how "boring" Tim Kaine is when he barbecues Mike Pence's silly ass in a debate.
