2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHas wikileaks ever leaked anything about Putin and Russia?
Russia is one of the most populated countries in the world and it has the 2nd most powerful military in the world. They're governed by an authoritarian.
You'd think Russia would be a big target of wikileaks.
Has wikileaks ever leaked juicy info about Putin Russia?

(13,566 posts)I doubt "putin is corrupt as fuck" would make news, and whoever leaked it would be arrested or dead if at all possible.
also, it's hard to trivially hack typewriters.

(546 posts)exposed "Putin's Palace," a one BILlION dollar mansion that Putin had built with government money.
Putin denies ownership, of course.
Photographs of the palace and its extensive grounds were published by the Russian language Wikileaks website in January 2011, which showed the apparently complete lavish interior decor. Following the release of the photographs the site was temporarily blocked.

(30,439 posts)Not.
Putin's Palace?
That's it?
jamese777
(546 posts)But it was "huge" to Putin and to Russians. If Barack Obama had built a $1 billion mansion using taxpayer money, would that be "huge"?
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)Obama is an upstanding person and he would never do that. He's not an authoritarian like Putin.
Yet it seems like Wikileaks' main target is Obama, the Dems and the US.

(546 posts)What has Wikleaks released that is about President Obama?
Because the U.S. is the only remaining superpower, we get a lot of attention. I think that the Obama administration, the DNC and the Clinton campaign can handle it.
Wikileaks opposed the Iraq War and Guantanamo detentions, therefore it is at odds with any U.S. sitiing American government.

RT is a Russian-government funded TV network:

(6,342 posts)Also, the United States throws its weight around the world far more than China or Russia....at least for the last 25 years. We are a bigger target. And we have created an awful lot of enemies along the way. America is not as well liked throughout the world as we used to be. And that reputation is not improving. Our military is still all over the world. Our corporations are out of control and above the law. And our government is becoming Big Brother. Most see us as a much bigger threat than Putin.
