Winners and losers from the first night of the Democratic convention WAPO

Winners
* Michelle Obama: An absolute home run. Period.
* Bernie Sanders
* Stephanie Rawlings-Blake: The mayor of Baltimore
* Sarah Silverman

Losers
* Debbie Wasserman Schultz
* Elizabeth Warren: The Massachusetts Senator had a tough task — following Michelle Obama
* Cory Booker
* Al Franken
* Susan Sarandon: Yes, she was adamantly with Bernie Sanders during the primaries. But if you are going to go the convention, try to have a little fun!
* Randy Quaid: Man. What the genuine hell is going on here?

If Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker or Al Franken were losers, then the first night was a home run.

I think if those were the losers, then it was a out of the park home run. liberal N proud Jul 2016 #2

My take is that it was win-win all the way. It was almost scary how well everything and each speaker fit together into a seamless garment covering all in unity. I certainly disagree with the WAPO opinion that Sens Booker, Franklin and Warren were losers. This is the 1st political convention that was entertaining, informative and really more than a pep rally that I have ever viewed. My only hope is that yesterday's success will be built on each day of the convention.

It was YUGGGGGE!

And I loved the Sarah Silverman/Al Franken "bridge" to Paul Simon and "Bridge Over Troubled Water." I guess we don't have to steal the good music.
