2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumApparently the "no more wars" chanting was started by the Oregon delegation
Oregon is a closed primary state. So I don't see why people think that closing our primaries is the answer to avoiding disruptive delegates. The delegates who shouted down Panetta were registered Democrats.

(11,605 posts)That all primaries would be closed? I don't think we all agree on that.

(11,605 posts)But I am upset that so many people here are calling for closing our primaries and making the process for running for the nomination and becoming a delegate more restrictive in the future. I don't think it's worth further stifling the democratic process just to ensure that our convention is a perfect infomercial.

(6,498 posts)Why are folks so upset with somebody saying something as innocuous and inoffensive as "no more war"?
Since when was such a sentiment considered as offensive?
This place is beginning to look like a Trumpesque pro-war cheering section tonight.
What gives?
For the record, it was this "'no more wars' assholes" OP that set me off, not so much yours:

(11,605 posts)And I didn't even mind them chanting it. I joined with them at first. They just picked the wrong moment and went on too long.
I started this thread to point out to those using the incident to call for closed primaries that the people who started it were registered Democrats from a closed primary state.
