This tactic was designed to disrupt a concert sponsored by a company known for dubious labor practices. The plan was for a number of black churches to sponsor "franks 'n beans" dinners for large numbers of people who would then attend the concert.

The "establishment" capitulated before any gas was dispersed.

Too bad all their plans wafted away. These guys really stunk up this protest attempt. They hit the brakes so hard the skid marks were a mile long.
