2016 Postmortem

Democrats lead by 22 points (57%-35%) in leaned party identification among adults with post-graduate degrees
The Democrats advantage is 35 points (64%-29%) among women with post-graduate degrees, but only eight points (50%-42%) among post-grad men.
I have a difficult time explaining this post-graduate gap by anything other than sexism or obliviousness. (maybe sampling error)...
Some of Clinton's policies address women's concerns (though how anything could be exclusively a women's concern escapes me).
Most of her policies are sex neutral.
Which suggests that even well educated men are somehow less able to see the difference between Clinton and Trump then the women.
Something is horribly wrong with that situation.

(2 posts)The fact is that the majority of men who hold post bachelors degrees are white. This plays to Hillary's biggest weakness, and Trumps biggest constituency, white men.

(11,330 posts)its ridiculous....
If even the post-grads prefer Trump, there is really something wrong.
I realize that their loss of monopoly on the presidency is hard on their ego...but seriously preferring Trump?http://presidentialgenderwatch.org/polls/womens-vote-watch/presidential-polling-data/

(29,149 posts)Women tend (in my experience) to have equal or greater representation in grad programs for fields which traditionally skew to the left (the humanities, education, library science, nursing, for example), while men are overrepresented in programs that likely trend more conservative (mba, other business) or fields like engineering.

(14,855 posts)That could play a role.
There might even be some men in technical fields who believe that their female co-workers aren't contributing as much, so there could be some resentment about talk of "equal pay for equal work" when measurement of work would be nearly impossible to measure by a distant bureaucratic overseer. I'm mostly speculating.
