Fatigue is setting in. Trump has not worked hard all his life.

What are the effects of fatigue and their relationship to work?

Because fatigue cannot be "measured", it is difficult to separate the effects of long working hours or lack of sleep to any changes in accident or injury rates.
Trump has lived a life of luxury all his life. Being catered to. He has not worked a hard day in his pampered life.
He won't do bus tours, won't prep for debates nor speeches, calling names and "Making America Great Again" is his only strategy.
The ordeal of a full time campaign is not what his body nor his mind is used to. Fatigue is setting in and that can have real negative consequences.

However, studies report the effects of fatigue as:

reduced decision making ability,
reduced ability to do complex planning,
reduced communication skills,
reduced productivity / performance,
reduced attention and vigilance,
reduced ability to handle stress on the job,
reduced reaction time - both in speed and thought,
loss of memory or the ability to recall details,
failure to respond to changes in surroundings or information provided,
unable to stay awake (e.g., falling asleep while operating machinery or driving a vehicle),
increased tendency for risk-taking,
increased forgetfulness,
increased errors in judgement,
increased sick time, absenteeism, rate of turnover,
increased medical costs, and
increased accident rates.

Just like Nixon, Reagan, GWB, the vice presidents will run the country. Trump will break the record of number of days on vacation. Nixon had Kissinger, Reagan had Nancy, GWB had Cheney.
There is a story that Nixon ordered a nuclear strike while he was in one of his drunken binges, Kissinger just ignored him. The next morning Nixon had forgotten all of it.

..... that he ordered. The military leadership would make some excuse, such as the weather, to delay, and when he sobered up he would forget all about it.

7. Also, and purely speculation on my part, I think there is a serious problem in the marriage.

the effects of fatigue listed seem similar to what we've seen. I still think he's overdoing it on the pills. It may be just me though.

is when we come alive. We become 'thick' when faced with the same thing again and again with no chance to be creative. He needs new stuff to look at things with fresh eyes. Probably why Trump asked Kasich to be in charge of both domestic and foreign policy when he asked him to be VP. Leaving Trump to be responsible for novelty=ideas=making America great again. Trump is losing interest quite quickly. And he knows it. Everytime he gives an unscripted speech, which he likes, he gets nailed for refusing to follow the norms. He doesn't want to be in the norms with those teleprompter speeches. Those are the doldrums for him...his sail has no wind. Trump should be a muse. Not the president. But he is narcissistic on top of being dyslexic. He can't inspire/help out others (as a muse) or serve (as a president should know and study the details of policy) because then it is not all about him and how great his ideas are.

17. That might explain some of his campaign's post-convention weirdness

Rachel Maddow was talking about this on Friday. He sent his son to a county fair near Philadelphia Mississippi, and apparently canceled his "Hispanic Engagement Tour". She was commenting that none of this crap makes any sense. Maybe he figures he deserves a vacation after the convention clusterfuck, and he can't be bothered to think about what he should be doing next.

I can't wait for the debates...
