2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe repubs are getting their just desserts...
Starting back in 2008, McCain elevated a batcrazy Sarah Palin to stardom naming her his running mate. Their knuckle-dragging base loved the insane and inflammatory rhetoric.
It spiraled from there and has culminated in having trump as their nominee.
The repub party is imploding and it's fractured as never before. They never made any attempt to manage the worst of their party. Instead the repubs catered out of fear for their jobs over love of country.
It's one thing to be RW, conservative, evangelical and all that makes up majority of the repubs. It's quite another when rhetoric like trump's becomes what drives that party.
When an audience boos the mother of a servicemember, that should send a signal to the repubs it's time to clean house and let the world know that the racists, the haters, the male chauvinists and so on are not welcome in their party.
Of course, it's unlikely this will ever happen. These types have made up the extreme base of the repubs for a very long time. They began to erupt when Sarah Palin stepped into the spotlight and then morphed into the tea party. They showed their true selves when they aligned themselves with the likes of trump.
Now, I think it's too late. The repubs have made this bed and they've got no choice but to lie in it.
That entire party deserves every single bit of the backlash they are getting.

(131 posts)It's high time their crap caught up with them. They're in panic mode as they should be. Should they ever lose control of the house & senate & Madam Presidents positive plans begin impacting middle America & everyone for the better & they're able to recognize it in their daily lives, the republican jig would be up, why would anyone Ever vote for them again...? Seriously
