I find it difficult to understand what the rush is to kick Trump off the ticket.

Why hurry the process along and give the GOP plenty of time to get another candidate on the ballot. Wouldn't it be better to let The Don wallow in his dreams of being the master of the country with Ivanka at his side as one of the most prominent women of the century? Why not wait until someone finally convinces him that he needs serious medical attention...like in late September/October?

For one, it is going to take a while longer for him to make the decision that his numbers are going down the tube and find an escape without looking like a loser...particularly losing to a woman. He may need to come up with some exotic disease. Maybe Glen Beck can help him in that category. His businesses are failing, so they need his attention or he'll have to file another bankruptcy.

Just thinkin' that it would be best to let him lie in the bed he's made for a while longer. I would imagine the GOP is secretly setting things up for another candidate. Why make it any easier?

I certainly get that impression from what I read of the GOP minions. If they want to get Ryan out of the fetal position, they've got to do something drastic. He looks silly like that. Has the party come to the point of telling their candidates they would provide support only if they endorse Trump? If not, it would seem the powers that be in the GOP aren't expecting Donald to be on the ticket to the end.

But then, I've been wrong a couple other times today. Just sayin'.

In some states the deadline has already passed and more are passing every day.

There is no way the GOP is going to replace Drumpf with a candidate who will not be on every state's presidential ballot. No way!!!

It's Drumpf or die.

and try to save Congress...they will allow elected GOP to distance themselves from Trump. I think they hope Trump can turn it around but they have few good options if he doesn't.

None of the DU posts on the topic even discuss that, let alone explain a plausible mechanism.

They see this madman nominated for GOP president and start screeching that he will somehow quit, for some reason or another, never explained.

There's been hundreds of OPs on this topic, each of them equally non-explanatory of how such a thing could actually happen.

It is puzzling, isn't it?

Back atcha!

Shaming certainly hasn't worked...he's been slammed from both parties.

Violating the briefing rules might tend to get him in trouble, or his present situation with Russia.

Sorry, I wasn't aware this question was posted so much before. I haven't spent nearly as much time as I normally do on DU, due to other commitments. Guess I'd best pay closer attention.

But apparently it has never before come up that such a thing might happen, so there are really no procedures in place for such an eventuality.

The biggest example is that some states set up their November presidential ballots right after the conventions, after which they are set in stone -- i.e., no changes possible. Already that deadline has passed in some states with more to come in the upcoming days.

No party can or would replace their candidate once that threshold has been crossed. And it already has been crossed in a few states, with more to soon come.

In other words, the GOP is truly stuck with Drumpf.

Wrapping their heads around the fact that the Republican establishment has become so disorganized and powerless. It shakes the world view of a lot on the left and right that the ones many thought were pulling the strings couldn't stop him, even though they clearly wanted to.

Majorities in both houses of the US Congress.

31 of the governorships.

30 states with both houses of the state legislatures!!!!

What more do they want?

Everything! And they will lie and deceive and equivocate to get it!!!!

The GOP is the most dangerous political influence on this planet. If we don't get with the program on defeating them now, we could lose it all. We could all lose everything.

This is all bull shit...there is no way to get rid of Trump. The GOP is hoping Trump can turn this around, but if not, they will fight for Congress...and they know if they get another candidate...kiss congress goodbye.

Paul Ryan could win it easily.

I say give him some more time, and maybe suggest some fun things for him to do that he hasn't thought of yet to thumb his nose at the establishment.

I thought it would be cool to let him hold a naked car wash for Melania to wash cars. He could say it was for the vets, but keep it like he usually does....

I'm sure we can come up with more stuff!

Couching their true intentions in copious amounts of "concern," they're the source of all of the "But what if Donald quits?" and "What if Donald is replaced?" threads lately. It's a loophole through the Terms of Service where, because they can't openly criticize Clinton any more, they're subtly questioning her ability to win against any other candidate besides Trump.

Obvious haters are obvious.
