Clinton up by 8. Hits 50%. Clinton Gains with Women, Democrats As Trump Struggles on Temperament

ABC NEWS/WASHINGTON POST POLL
EMBARGOED FOR RELEASE AFTER 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016

Hillary Clinton has advanced among women and consolidated support within her party since her
nominating convention, while a difficult few weeks have left Donald Trump still struggling on
basic ratings from his temperament to his qualifications for office. She leads him by 8 points in a

president. He is having fun and probably laughing at those who have voted for him and who supports him.

From 1% all the way up to 2%. Ben Carson must have a family member who has signed on.

That is actually a similar level margin as Barack Obama in 2008. I think I recall it as +91—that is, Obama 95% • John McCain 4%.

In 2012, Obama won Blacks by +87—that is, Obama 93% • Romney 6%.

This poll indicates even better Democratic support here in 2016.

Hillary holds same-party support 15 points better than Trump.

His white voters’ support is +12. (In 2012, Mitt Romney carried them nationally by +20.)

She leads with voters 65+. But he leads with voters 30 to, say, 44. (It would usually play out as the opposite.)

The gender gap is +33. (That is outside the norm. In 2008, it was +12. In 2012, it was +19. If she were to win nationally by +8 or even better—over +10—I would predict her to carry both genders. Barack Obama did that in 2008—he won by +7.26 and carried men by +1 and women by +13 nationally.)
