2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHow do you campaign in Georgia now?
I think the reason for this change is largely due to Clinton's ad showing Trump being a buffoon (I know, sorry buffoons), and beyond that, Trump being Trump.
Two questions:
Do you talk up Hillary, do you compare and contrast, or do you just keep slamming Trump?
For those in GA, do you attribute Barksdale's numbers to Clinton/Trump, or is he there on his own?
To me, all Trump all the time is working well for now. So much material to draw from, motivates minorities and women, demoralizing the right.
If Hillary's number goes up over 50% here in GA, I bring her or Bill, or other surrogates, and handcuff whoever else comes down to Barksdale. Two for one. They each need the other. From what I understand, Isakson isn't so much the Republican darling other red states embrace.
We're going to need all the (D) in the Senate we can get for the 2018 cycle.
Really gotta GOTV big time in the metro. Seriously big time.
Would love to hear your strategies.

(267 posts)Members of the band: have David Scott and Hank Johnson, this covers Atlanta & the exurbs, add Sanford Bishop for a voice of the Ag community. All together on combination listening tour and gotv operation, tour the towns all around the state, get free time on the secondary TV markets, hit the fair (ag fairs, harvest festivals and the mountain fair season is starting). At every chance get Jimmy Carter to show also, the ol' man still has plenty of juice here. Also, if possible Bill would go over better than Hillary outside of Atlanta.
Atlanta is pretty solid Hillary. Best battlefield to play is outside the major urban areas, every vote is a two-fer (from repub to Dems).

(13,340 posts)But maybe not. But in any case, it's always better to keep the GOPers on the defensive. If they are worried about GA, they are not going to be able to go all in on, say, Ohio.
GA is trending purple, so maybe it will be in play, but so far the Clinton campaing is playing it just right, IMO.

(68,715 posts)But we had 50 state Howard Dean...and the president did go to Virginia and we won for the first time in years...we should go for the win...if we don't make it this time, we will eventually. Don't concede any state to the lousy GOP.
