Woodward: Clinton supporters to blame for Trump's remarks

Famed reporter Bob Woodward suggested Thursday morning that “excessive rhetoric” from Donald Trump’s opponents was feeding the bombastic billionaire’s increasingly controversial remarks.

Calling Trump’s campaign one that’s “off the rails,” the Washington Post editor also condemned “hyperbolic, ungenerous rhetoric” from Hillary Clinton’s allies.

“I think it's got to be said this is not just about Trump,” Woodward said in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “A lot of the people who really are opposed to Trump, I think, are engaged in some excessive rhetoric also.”

Now that you've antagonized poor Mr. Woodward with your “hyperbolic, ungenerous rhetoric”, it's going to be all your fault if he goes completely off the rails and starts hinting to his readers that they should maybe consider assassinating political leaders, and starts ranting about how President Obama is the Kenyan-born founder of ISIS, and starts doing things like publicly musing about how he'd like to date his daughter and calling a combat veteran like John McCain a big loser for having endured years of torture in a POW camp, and gosh knows what all.

I just hope you're happy.

Because he's from that generation, and it shows. While a great portion of people "of a certain age" have grown out of such misogyny, Woodward, it would appear, remains.

What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. He's been resting on his Watergate laurels for 40 years and it's time to hang it up. He's like a singer who was a one-hit wonder back in the day, but can't come up with anything else.

Pathetic.

Trump is so over the top batshit crazy, Hillary's allies are actually toning it down.

No, really. Trump just called for the assignation of Hillary and Woodward is talking about the over the top rhetoric of Hillary's allies??!?!?!! WTF is wrong with you Bob Woodward?!?!!

His commentary has seemed off for at least the last 8-16 years.

Compare these two things:

1. His book https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_of_Attack and its contention, "that President Bush planned from early in his presidency to remove Saddam Hussein from power by force, rather than making any serious effort to use diplomacy or other means." with...

2. This article: http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2015/05/26/bob-woodward-bush-didnt-lie-to-start-iraq-war "An argument could certainly and persuasively be made, he told moderator Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday," that the Iraq War was a mistake, but "there was no lying in this that I could find."
According to Woodward, Bush himself was skeptical about the presence of weapons of mass destruction and urged caution on then-CIA Director George Tenet lest he stretch the case that there were."
------------------------------

Something is wrong with someone who posits both of those things. #1 shows that Bush wanted to go to war and was pretending to try to use diplomacy. #2 Gives the opposite impression.

Then of course if you factor in the Weapons Inspectors reports 11 days before we went to war that showed there were no WMD in Iraq, Woodwards #2 really looks silly.

Quit trying to relive your glory days. Watergate's over and no one takes you seriously any more.

Like Eastwood, stop talking. Try to salvage your legacy instead of destroying it by continuing to talk.
