2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSorry gang, but it won't be over even when tRump loses!!!!
From Robert Reich's Facebook page:
It's becoming clear that Trumps demagoguery will not end when he loses the election in November. Since his poll numbers began tanking, hes been trying to preemptively disqualify the results of the presidential election by alleging its already rigged against him.
Speaking this afternoon to a crowd of supporters in Abington, Virginia, he suggested he might lose the election through voting fraud. Make sure they dont lose your ballot, he told his supporters. Make sure they dont lose your vote You know, and I just left a great place, North Carolina. And they just had a tremendous loss. Voter ID. Voter ID. They lost voter ID [a federal court found the North Carolina voter ID law to be unconstitutional]. You mean, you dont have to show identification? Trump continued: Ive been talking about the rigged system for a long time. And I get hammered in the press And then in the meantime, voter ID you dont have to do. And Im sure none of those folks would be voting ten times during one day. Right? Im sure a thing like that.
Translated: Now that the federal courts have thrown out state requirements that voters show an ID, poor African-Americans, Latinos, and undocumented immigrants will be voting ten times a day against me. Which is the only way Hillary is going to win. And if she does, my people are going to
What do you think?
I think Professor Reich is right!!!! He's going to keep demagoguing and whipping up his most rabid followers. Expect violence!!!

(23,237 posts)They won't let it go. HE will NEVER let it go. I predict he will never concede the election, even when every vote is counted and confirmed. His f*cking ego is TOO BIG to ever concede defeat. I won't be surprised to see bloodshed in the streets CAUSED by his "second amendment people". He won't go away nicely.

(18,634 posts)And saying the same inflammatory things.
Most presidential candidates fade away after they lose but I don't expect that from him.
He's not in this to win, he's in it for attention and adulation.
He delights in the shocking, controversial statements because it keeps him out in front of everyone's eyes.
This is not a guy who's going away.
He will be out there hogging the airwaves and tearing down everything anyone is doing long after we have a new president.
He will be the new permanent voice of conservatives in the US even if the GOP someday rejects him.
If horrific violence is done in his name it won't matter as long as it doesn't happen to him.
He'll just blame it on someone else and continue on, spewing the same toxic waste.

(3,335 posts)his rhetoric. Crowds seem to be thinning out as it is. He probably thinks he can become the next Glen Beck and make millions of dollars on a daily radio show he runs out of Trump Towers for subscribers. As long as one has to pay or subscribe to hear his rhetoric, it doesn't bother me since I won't do either. But I have to imagine that even the Glen Beck-like audiences of the world have their limit. At least Beck can complete a sentence in his web of deceit and conspiracies. Trump just strings words along changing direction every few words and never completing a thought, making it more difficult for those non-college graduates to follow the story line.

(8 posts)Let's face it, Trump, despite running such an awful campaign, still has the support of MILLIONS in this country. These people have been greatly empowered by Trump's rhetoric, and the idea that the system is rigged against him and his base. When he loses in November, his supporters will go berserk over their defeat, and will turn their anger towards Clinton. That is truly a frightening prospect.
