Trump: Climate change won't be devastating
By Devin Henry - 08/12/16 09:15 AM EDT
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Thursday there could be some impact from a changing climate, but I dont believe its a devastating impact.
~Snip~
I would say it goes up, it goes down, and I think its very much like this over the years, he said. Well see what happens. I mean, well see what happens. ... Certainly, climate has changed.
Trump has long said he doesnt believe in the science behind climate change, even though there is broad agreement among researchers that human activity has contributed to the phenomenon.
Florida is expected to struggle with rising sea levels induced by climate change, and Miami recently undertook a $500 million push to prepare for it. ...

(17,320 posts)This is yet another statement Drumpf has made that is essentially meaningless. All we can say is he expresses skepticism regarding climate change but he fails to explain why this phenomenon isn't real.

Replace dirty energy with solar power, wind power, hemp, and water power by 2030?
That's something I can endorse.
One thing is to acknowledge man made climate change. Doing something about it (to the grief of the oil and coal industry) is another.

(22,990 posts)Hillary Clinton's plans in awareness of the seriousness of climate change:
Taking on the threat of climate change and making America the worlds clean energy superpower.
On day one, Hillary Clinton will set bold, national goals that will be achieved within 10 years of taking office:
Generate enough renewable energy to power every home in America, with half a billion solar panels installed by the end of Hillarys first term.
Cut energy waste in American homes, schools, hospitals and offices by a third and make American manufacturing the cleanest and most efficient in the world.
Reduce American oil consumption by a third through cleaner fuels and more efficient cars, boilers, ships, and trucks.
Hillarys plan will deliver on the pledge President Obama made at the Paris climate conferencewithout relying on climate deniers in Congress to pass new legislation. She will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 30 percent in 2025 relative to 2005 levels and put the country on a path to cut emissions more than 80 percent by 2050.

(24,692 posts)If that 'policy' is good enough to 'justify' a travel ban on Muslims, surely it is good enough to justify action on climate change.
leaves open the possibility that the impact may indeed be 'devastating' in your own words. Shouldn't we 'figure out what's going on' first?
