This presidential campaign is almost at the stage of laughter.

Almost. As Trump's fate in November becomes more and more clear, the urge to simply laugh and get back to other things grows more enticing. However, we shouldn't give into the urge just to laugh Der Drumpfenfûhrer™ off. Getting a maximum voter turnout for Democratic voters in all states remains crucial.

We must regain majority control of the Senate and make some headway toward getting a majority in the House, or even taking both houses back in 2016. So, while Trump's campaign is laughable, we should keep our guffaws to ourselves as we engage in GOTV activities. We have an opportunity this year that may not return for a long, long time.

So, laugh loudly and often, but get out there and stimulate voters to come to the polls and make this election a landslide that will go down in history. If that happens, we can break into hysterical peals of hilarity on November 9 and celebrate the return of sanity and progressivism to our national government.

the consequences of a Trump administration. Trump voters are not the sort of people who give careful consideration to things, I'm afraid. I mean, have you seen the folks who show up at his rallies? Frightening.

We need to make it absolutely clear that this country won't seriously consider such a man as President.

how much time the media spends on the election (Trump) and says nothing! Nothing! Small wonder so many people are so ill-informed. I can learn more listening to Thom Hartmann for five minutes (WCPT on line from Chicago) than MSNBC in a whole year.

File under "Shit happens."

Forecasting the 2016 Presidential Election: Will Time for Change Mean Time for Trump?

Always correct election forecast model predicts Trump win, 51%-48%.

The Time for Change forecasting model has correctly predicted the winner of the national popular vote in every presidential election since 1988. This model is based on three predictors — the incumbent president’s approval rating at midyear (late June or early July) in the Gallup Poll, the growth rate of real GDP in the second quarter of the election year, and whether the incumbent president’s party has held the White House for one term or more than one term. Using these three predictors, it is possible to forecast the incumbent party’s share of the major party vote with a high degree of accuracy around three months before Election Day.

Based on a net approval rating for Barack Obama of +6 in the Gallup weekly tracking poll for the week of June 27-July 4, an estimated second quarter change in real GDP of 1.2% according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, and the fact that Hillary Clinton is seeking a third consecutive Democratic term in the White House, the Time for Change Model predicts a narrow victory for Donald Trump — 51.4% of the major party vote to 48.6%.

beat him so soundly that the tea party will want to crawl back under their rocks.

and take the whole god damned racist gop with them.

STARTING now. Make sure people are registered to vote, know their polling places and election laws, and MOTIVATE them to vote. Yes, Trump alone should be motivation enough, but a lot of people are lazy and/or apathetic by nature, thinking that he can't win anyway, so why vote? (Believe me, I know people like that!)

I agree with taking control of Congress; certainly the Senate and maybe...maybe the House too. That can only be accomplished by encouraging people to vote.

Yes, it's unintentional comedy from Trump, but he who laughs last..
