Does anyone think Goldwater was worse than Trump???

I'd say Goldwater's policies were worse than Trump's because they were coherent, thus more powerful. But on the scale of civility there's no contest.

So why aren't we EXPECTING a sweep of all 50 states? Not just 49???

The Cheeto Bandito is a enormously bloviated ego who has gigantic faith in himself.

I'd say it's apples and oranges. It is impossible to make a comparison. Both men as president would be very dangerous but for different reasons.

I would hope we get a 50 state victory- It would be sweet if Texas went for Hillary.

For starters, he was not a shady business tycoon, did not exhibit classic signs of narcissism, was not off-the-chart delusional, and was by appearances honest and forthcoming despite his less-than-popular political stance. After his 1964 shellacking at the hands of LBJ, Goldwater as Senator mellowed out considerably and migrated to the center-left arena of the GOP, back when there was such a thing.

It was a crazy election.

Only one state carried Republican for both Nixon and Goldwater: Goldwater’s home state Arizona. (And just barely.)

All the rest of Nixon’s 26—that is, 25 of 26—flipped Democratic to give a full term to Lyndon Johnson…

01. Alaska (the only time it has carried Democratic)
02. California
03. Colorado
04. Florida
05. Idaho
06. Indiana
07. Iowa
08. Kansas
09. Kentucky
10. Maine
11. Montana
12. Nebraska
13. New Hampshire
14. North Dakota
15. Ohio (has carried for all winners since)
16. Oklahoma
17. Oregon
18. South Dakota
19. Tennessee
20. Utah
21. Vermont (first time ever a Republican failed to carry it)
22. Virginia
23. Washington
24. Wisconsin
25. Wyoming

Hilarious!
