2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI still believe this is the real reason Trump is running
He was humiliated in public and could not respond at the time and had to deal with something that he simply couldn't deal with.
Just watch how stone faced he is about 3 1/2 minutes in as the camera keeps cutting to him. This is a man that holds a grudge. Which is why as he takes his swipes at Hillary, he's also hitting Obama as hard as he can in some really weird ways.
Edited to add Meyer's piece, which is hilariously brutal.

(21,086 posts)The elites, the comedy world and Obama already knew what a fucking loon he was/is. I can honestly say this man is crippled in the belief that no one should ever be better, funnier, smarter or richer than he. This guy is so fucked up.

(21,086 posts)The only time I caught a few moments of that show of Trumps was when there was some woman named, Amaroosa or something like that. It was totally stupid.
I admit to being initially surprised by the primary outcomes (and now educated) re: Donald Trump. I always considered him a lush, womanizing big talker. I still do. I don't read the trash newspapers, haven't read his book and won't and his statements during his campaign are Un American imo.
We now have an election with interference from Russia, a segment of the population who are ignorant and attempting to exercise total control, a candidate who threatens and attempts to intimidate both his opponent and the American voter and fierce racism on display daily by an entire political party. Not to mention a media that is at best self serving and at worst complicit in maintaining this very unstable landscape of characters.
Shakespeare would love it. Too bad we can't all consider this a drama that ends in a couple of hours.

His campaign is totally weird.

(3,855 posts)"Also, speaking of Democrats in Omarosas family who support Hillary Clinton, Omarosa herself was one of them all the way up until the moment someone offered her money and TV time to support Trump. Manigault was a Democrat who joked that she has Hillary Clinton tattooed on my left arm until just last year."
So, she's a mercenary. Her whole family are Democrats and she was, too, until Chump offered her a buncha cash to be a spox.

(3,335 posts)from Hawaii, would be President, before he could. Then Obama with his victory, made it seem easy to Trump; which of course it wasn't. But he didn't know all the hard work that Obama and the campaign put in behind the scenes. So Trump, the racist, believed that if a black man could do it, than he could do it better. He was convinced that Obama had gotten into Harvard as an affirmative action candidate and couldn't possibly have the intelligence required to be President. Of course Trump being lazy and ignorant is the ultimate affirmative action candidate. Money opened all the doors for him during his lifetime, and he can't accept the fact that a black man has out manned him, not once but several times, and he will go down in the history books as the Biggest Loser. Talk about poetic justice. Hollywood could not have written this script. But I hope when all is said and done, they will and it won't be pretty. And the best part about it is, Hollywood won't have to make shit up. Trump has given script writer's plenty to work with, and they don't have to exaggerate. The biggest problem will be fitting all his bullshit life into two hours or less.

(1,242 posts)Don has run before , sounds like the first time in the 80 's was a publicity stunt for book
"For years, talking about running for the presidency has been somewhat of a hobby for Donald Trump. The first time was in 1987, when, instead of buying ad space to promote his new book, he gave speeches hinting at the possibility of a run. In 1999, he suggested to Larry King that Oprah Winfrey would be his first choice for a vice president. Gwen Ifill traces his trajectory to the nomination. "
"GWENDA BLAIR, Author, The Trumps: Its not the first time, second, third, fourth, or even fifth. Its the sixth time that he has talked about being president.
GWEN IFILL: Trumps earliest interest in the intersection of politics and business was fueled by his developer father, Fred, but also by a shadier figure, Roy Cohn, the tough-talking power attorney who rose to prominence as Senator Joseph McCarthys fixer during the communist scares of the 1950s. "
"MICHAEL DANTONIO, Trump Biographer: In 1987, he had a book, The Art of the Deal, that he wanted to promote. Instead of buying ad space, he pretended to run for president. He went to New Hampshire, gave a couple of speeches. He made some pronouncements about the Reagan administrations failures, and got a lot of attention. He was one of the first people actually to use running for president as a business tactic. "
