Marco Rubio stands by calling Trump a 'con artist,' still supports him

http://www.cnn.com/2016/08/16/politics/marco-rubio-donald-trump-con-artist-support/index.html

(CNN)Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is standing by his description of Donald Trump as "a con artist," but he says in a new interview he still plans to support the real estate mogul for president.

"I've stood by everything I ever said in my campaign," Rubio told the Miami Herald editorial board Monday when asked about his comments made during the Republican presidential primary earlier this year.

He said the race is "in a different place now" -- with voters facing a "binary choice" between Trump and Hillary Clinton.

"In our republic, while the presidency is powerful, there is a balance of power in this country, and a significant amount of it resides in the United States Senate," Rubio said. "It's one of the reasons why I seek to run again."

It will destroy some politicians and others will navigate it gingerly in the future.

President Obama made great hay out of his opposition to the idiotic War Powers resolution for Iraq and became a great president afterward.

Hillary has navigated the Iraq war vote to become the nominee to succeed Obama.

Expect something very similar from the GOP in the future...Ted Cruz is licking his lips like a viper right now and Rubio is hoping to split hairs and become the GOP's eventual Hillary in 2028 or so...

This stance of Rubio's and other Republicans (Ayotte saying she'll vote for Trump but will 'stand up to him') should damn the Republicans for a generation. To quietly go along to get along with a mentally unstable presidential candidate is morally repugnant. The damage Trump could do and is doing to the country's credibility is staggering.

Shame on all of them.
