There is no “clear evidence of knowledge or intent” to improperly store or transmit classified information on Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail system during her time as secretary of State, according to letter from FBI.
Letter from agency’s acting assistant director of congressional affairs, Jason Herring, says FBI Director James Comey’s use of term “extremely careless” in press conference on e-mails “was intended to be a common sense way of describing” Clinton’s actions and was not meant to be equated with “legal standard of ‘gross negligence’”
Letter addressed to Rep. Jason Chaffetz, chairman of House Oversight and Government Reform Cmte, and Rep. Elijah Cummings, top Democrat on cmte, was released by cmte’s Democrats
