A federal judge said Friday that he will refer Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio to the U.S. Attorneys Office to be charged with criminal contempt of court.
The decision comes after U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow found that Arpaio intentionally violated various orders rooted in an 8-year-old racial-profiling case.

(15,262 posts)The USA now has a responsibility to act as the situation demands. The wheels of justice are turning and Joe is the new grist in the mill. Obeying the law is a bit more complicated than he can manage.
This is a real object lesson on Joe's buddy Trump. Racists don't always adhere to laws they disagree with. Sometimes they just are not smart enough to be in a position that requires full knowledge of the law. Sometimes all of the above.

(146,296 posts)is planning in states that could flip from red to blue. They're not really needed to get the electoral votes to win, but, it would be wonderful to flip them and maybe pick up a House seat or two from the coattails.
They're probably not going to get tons of money, but they'll probably get some. What's more important is for the party organizations in those states to do a tough GOTV campaign. Arizona, for example, needs a big push to get Hispanic voters registered and to the polls. Arizona's Republicans don't want that to happen, so making it happen should be a top priority there.
