Related: About this forumRuth: Trump hates the media, loves the attention - Tampa Bay Times
...it is a bit odd that Trump would so vociferously attack the news media. After all, since he launched his "Greatest Schmo on Earth" campaign, he has enjoyed nearly $6 billion in free media exposure, according to mediaQuant. On any given day, the candidate can sit in his Trump Tower penthouse and call any news organization he wants for an unfettered 20 minutes or so of free air time without ever having to change out of his Doctor Dentons.
And while Trump has fended off criticism for mocking of a disabled reporter, engaging in a inane feud with a Gold Star family and exhibiting more cluelessness about foreign affairs than Beetle Bailey, his supporters whine that Clinton has gotten a free pass from a fawning media.
Clinton might think a bit differently given the critical coverage of her role in the Benghazi terrorist attacks, the email server imbroglio, her six-figure speaking fees to blow air-kisses to Wall Street, the withering assault on her credibility from FBI Director James Comey and, of course, the 476 congressional investigations into every time the Democratic presidential nominee burped.
Ironically, a recent Harvard University content analysis of media coverage of the presidential field noted 84 percent of Clinton's press clips were negative, while only 43 percent of the clips on Trump were negative.
