Donald Trump said in an interview on Monday with Bill O’Reilly that he met with a “top” Chicago police officer, insinuating that if tough policies were put in place, like the one’s Trump advocates, then they could instantly solve all of Chicago’s crime problems “in a week.”

“I went to a top police officer in Chicago, who is not the police chief and I could see by the way he was dealing with his people…he was rough-tough guy..they respected him greatly. I said ‘how do you think you do it?’ He said, ‘Mr. Trump, within one week we could stop much of this horror-show that is going on.”
Special: Daily Paid Work at Home Position. No Experience Necessary

The Chicago Policy Department, however, issued an official response on Tuesday completely denying it.

“We’ve discredited this claim months ago,” CPD spokesperson Frank Giancamilli said in a statement. “No one in the senior command at CPD has ever met with Donald Trump or a member of his campaign.”

Either 1) Trump is lying about the entire encounter or 2) he just met with an average joe police officer and billed him a “top” cop, which would also be a lie.

To make matters fishier, Trump also claimed that he submitted the officer’s name for some sort of job, but he won’t reveal who the officer is.

“I sent his name in and I said, ‘you probably should hire this guy because you have nothing to lose,'” Trump said. “Look at what’s going on in Chicago, it’s horrible. This guy felt totally confident that he could stop it in a very short period of time.”

This isn’t the first time Trump and the Chicago Police Department have clashed with each other. When Trump canceled his Chicago rally due to violence concerns, he claimed he met with law enforcement before making this decision to cancel. Yet, CPD said in a statement, that they had not advised Trump to cancel the rally and did not recommend any public safety threats or safety risks.
