(58,785 posts)happening to her country is a new schtick -- dissociation from her own involvement in this mess.
I was torn between laughing and wanting to throw eggs at Mika's despair-bowed-head, almost-too-sorrowful-for-words questions of Hillary, clearing knowing in advance that all answers will just be more lies. (Rule #3 of the Clinton Reporting rules: The media assumes that Clinton is acting in bad faith until there's hard evidence otherwise. And then ignores the hard evidence if possible.)
"It's only fair to to ask" what the foundation's accomplished -- then she of course segues literally in the middle of that sentence away from any discussion of accomplishments (big no to that crew) to the distasteful mention of the "risk" that HRC's emails or whatever will reveal the corruption she knows is there. (Rule #2 of the Clinton reporting rules: Every allegation, no matter how ludicrous, is believable until it can be proven completely and utterly false. And even then, it keeps a life of its own.)

(58,785 posts)moderate "establishment" conservative agenda, especially during election years. Everyone on that show overall carries water for that agenda, no matter the role played. Mika supposedly is a mix of moderate liberal and moderate conservative positions, averaging her to the left of Joe and walking a dutiful step behind.
But by definition they all despise Hillary Clinton (that's just the Kool-Aid served in that part of town), but especially in election years they go after her big. Even this one. Even tho Mika says she wants Hillary to win, it's ONLY because she's a Democrat. Atragically poor choice in a tragically bad election, but she bears the conflicts and burdens of her citizenship as bravely as she can.
Personally, my best guess is that her character wasn't strong enough to withstand her situation, that she started believing Morning Joe's lies and distortions for real because only pretending to support them on TV was uncomfortable, and of course to fully "belong." Harsh, but imo her behavior doesn't support a kinder analysis.
I don't normally waste all this time watching or thinking about her, but I have the past couple of days to see how they're treating the Clinton Foundation and am just full-out disgusted. Two mornings of her nauseating hypocrisy are too much. Joe's traditional conservatism and any dishonesty needed to serve it seem refreshingly honest in comparison.

So I cut it off.

(58,785 posts)under the burden of going through a "rote duty" of asking Hillary questions that Mika knew could only elicit a string of lies.
WHAT on earth are their regular viewers making of this bizarre caricature of pretend high-principled sorrow over the evils of the world? She's trying to dissociate herself from what the right's come to while actually being over her eyebrows in sewage.

Jika twins are being respectful because they want her to return when she is president.

(15,805 posts)She spoke with clarity and confidence, and patiently answered and explained -- for the umteemth time! -- the usual questions. Its important to note that this was only an audio interview, but her tone remained measured, unflappable and relaxed. Unlike Trump, Hillary gave the impression of someone who is steady, self-assured, dependable and even-tempered, the total presidential package.

(11,605 posts)I guess she was speaking as an Obama surrogate at that point. It felt weird seeing her in that role but I remember thinking at the end "I am really glad to have her on our side now!"

(19,061 posts)They are replaying it now, wow, she is totally hitting a home run. She dominated the conversation so far and really reiterated all the points of her speech. She just gave the best defense of the Clinton Foundation yet. This is a winning issue for her.
Fantastic interview! Love that she is dominating the news cycle the last couple days and will through the weekend.

(19,061 posts)Unbelievable!!! She got to give a 20 minute campaign ad highlighted the amazing Clinton Foundation. The Right is going to rue the day they decided to make the Clinton Foundation an issue, she comes across like Mother Theresa the more it gets talked about.
Just amazing and she continues to hammer Trump on race.

(19,061 posts)I am seeing panic from the Right online and in the media. Yesterday's speech crushed Trump. And his flip flop on immigration is eroding his base. Hillary getting a chance to tell the world about the Clinton Foundation is a nail in his capaign's coffin.
And the timing of all of this is perfect. It's Friday afternoon, the Trump camp is stunned and has no response. She just won the weekend. Only 9 more weekends to go and she's got a big lead. Trump needs to win all the weekends left.
