By Michael Allen, Wed, November 07, 2012
On his web-based radio show, today, Glenn Beck warned conservatives about the aftermath of President Obama's re-election victory (video below).
Beck went into alarm mode saying: "We don't have the luxury of time." He told his audience to start buying farmland, pull their kids out of the public schools and purchase guns, reports RightWingWatch.org.
Beck said: "I don't know how my industry is going to survive I won't make a deal with the devil... Your religion is going to come under attack... Get the hell out of the east... Get your kids out of the schools that are indoctrinating them... May I highly suggest you get grandfathered into the Second Amendment today and don't forget the ammunition."

(111,352 posts)than the hamfisted hippies were back in the late 60s and early 70s when the "back to the land" movement was going on. Most of them found that farming and care of milk and meat animals was a lot tougher and more relentless than the Nearings made it look. Within 5 years, most of them were commuting long distances to jobs, animals had died or been sold off, and the land was largely fallow except for a big veggie garden. I don't know of any who made a living off the land, no matter how generous the trust fund was.
And the hippies were at least literate and willing to do all the yucky stuff. Your average white collar retired GOP male is not going to be willing to do any of it.
This is going to be even funnier than the Doomsday Prepper show where they all stock up on guns and ammo but forget things like toilet paper and penicillin.

(15,245 posts)They got jobs, bought Volvo's, and ended up voting for Reagan by the end of the 1970's. There are still a few remnant Rainbow people but not many. My guess more than a few voted for Romney and they are not about to go back to nature. It would not surprise me their kids voted for Obama.
By the way I do plan to move to the farm now that I am retired.

(18,646 posts)As if anyone can withstand a sustained assault from feds by buying a few more guns.
It's like they think if they have two AR-15s instead of one the federal agents will give up and go home. Of course many think they'll need them for some imaginary race war that will have them piling up bodies in the front yard like so much cordwood. They need thousands of rounds because the hordes will just keep coming, climbing over the fallen bodies only to be mowed down by the political righteous.
I think they've seen too many zombie movies.

(9,894 posts)all the apocalyptic hand-wringing from these people. It seems worse than 2008. An incumbent was re-elected. Nothing bad happened the first time, why is the end at hand this time? No guns confiscated, no outlawing of religion, no socialism, no Black Panthers in the Supreme Court or even Congress, no sanctions of banksters whatsoever, no real limits on Wall Street. A watered down health plan, a few limits on bank's picking the pockets of the middle class, a bail out of one of the only remaining manufacturing industries in this country, and a dead Osama. Why all the "End is Near" BS. Sheesh, I can't imagine how they would react if an actual liberal were elected.
is that they see the writing on the wall, the tide is against them, the demagraphics are changing and they cannot accept it. After Roberts ruled for Obamacare, there last hope was Romney to repeal it and now they cannot accept that the horse is out of the barn and there is nothingthey can do. Educated Repubs understand that once Obamacare kicks in and people see just how much better it is than traditional health care it will never be able to be repealed. In fact, it will become like Social Security and the GOP politicians will not be able to attack it due to its popularity.

(35,701 posts)He will find out very quickly that one doesn't just "buy farmland" and magically become a farmer. I assume this means they are going to farm without the benefit of any USDA programs, subsidies, University Extension programs, Soil Conservation District programs, etc. because that would mean they are a "taker."
