GOP's last ditch effort to save the Senate: Clinton is the same as Trump
Today's Fort Worth paper (Republican) has a headline that sums up the Texas GOP's last ditch effort to save the Senate.
"Candidates fling charges of bigotry."
The key word here is "fling."
Now, I agree that Donald Trump looks more than a bit like some bloated great ape with a red toupee and that it is easy to imagine him flinging his pooh at his opponent, Hillary Clinton. But I object to the image of Clinton doing the same---she is just stating fact.
This headline seeks to create the impression that both candidates are so reprehensible that any civilized voter will stay home this fall--or vote third party--as a protest. And by "civilized" voter, the paper and its Republican board mean Democrats.
Meanwhile, the faithful Republican base will hold its nose and turn out to vote for its party right or wrong. And the Texas oil industry will retain its hold on Congress and veto any attempt to fill the SCOTUS seat vacated by its man, Scalia.
