CHUCK TODD: Are you happy with the hires of Steve Bannon and Kellyanne Conway?
REINCE PRIEBUS: Look, you know, I go with the flow based on what the campaign wants to do. I think Kellyanne is doing a phenomenal job. I don't know Steve Bannon, to tell you the truth, very well.
CHUCK TODD: Okay.
REINCE PRIEBUS: I'm going to get to know him. I mean, I'm starting to get to know--
<snip>
CHUCK TODD: All right. The Steve Bannon--
ANDREA MITCHELL: "I don't know Steve Bannon," wow.
CHUCK TODD: "I don't know Steve Bannon," Hugh, what did you make of that?
HUGH HEWITT: I don't know Steve Bannon either.
CHUCK TODD: I think we as discussed, we may be one oppo drop away from Bannon not being a part of this campaign.
HUGH HEWITT: Very possibly.

A fiery wreck even more spectacular that Paul Manafort's must be coming soon.

(21,849 posts)What the hell does that mean? Is Chuck Todd making up new words in an effort to look like an insider? And Hugh Hewitt pretends to understand it?

(1,210 posts)"To drop" is the new fad way to say 'to air' or 'to broadcast' or 'to publish'. Since this was a round-table of professional talking heads, they can lapse into jargon at the drop of an oppo.

(12,586 posts)Although I guess if you dropped a hippo on Bannon you'd get the same effect.

That will only work for so long. She is constantly trying to reign him in using flattering language. That is very hard on her and everyone else around Trump who will want to reduce her influence over him can easily point out that she is manipulating him and once that happens she's out.

(24,396 posts)Any enterprising reporter would be digging for video of Bannon with Priebus and Hewitt.
Of course, the media didn't bother when Trump said he had never heard of David Duke, even though there's tape of him talking about Duke from a few years ago.

(9,350 posts)The idea that Hugh Hewitt and Rience Priebus do not know Steve Bannon is likely nonsense. Brietbart News was a well know news outlet even on the left. It is hard to believe that neither Hewitt nor Priebus, especially Hewitt, since he is a radio host, do not know Steve Bannon.

(1,591 posts)asked about the support he was receiving from white supremacists. Unbelievably, Trump responded that he didn't know what that meant and consequently he couldn't answer the question! This was just a few weeks ago.

(34,403 posts)even able to know enough to actually "hire all the best people" for his administration. He can't even hire a competent campaign manager, how the hell is he going to choose to negotiate ANYTHING? He can't just tank the economy then sell of Yosemite National Park to reduce the debt, although he would probably try because he values nothing but money and power.
