I am not too inspired by any of the names in the poll.

Biden. Love him, but his age will just add to the narrative that he's a crazy old man.

O'Malley. No opinion at all, and that's a problem.

Cuomo. Maybe, but he isn't his old man. Doesn't seem to have the same intensity.

Schweitzer. I like him. I can't see him holding the eastern swing states and don't really see him adding any other states.

Patrick. I like him -- a lot. The problem here is that I don't think America well feel as strongly about supporting two black men back to back. Maybe I am wrong about that, but this would open up a narrative that the Democrat Party is "just for African Americans." That isn't fair, but I am afraid it is real.

Warren. I like her. But she really is a novice at political campaigns. I hope and expect that she will take the next few years becoming the kind of Senator we know she can be -- a fierce advocate for the middle class.

Clinton. I am concerned about her age and energy. But I also think she is the only one on this list that can win in 2016 given the landscape as we see it today. There really is not heir apparent from Obama's generation or younger, so I would like to see a strategy where Hillary plans to serve one term with a carefully selected YOUNG running mate that would then be poised to win in 2020. Maybe that is a role that Julian Castro can fill. I would love to see Hillary become our first female President rather than one of the Jan Brewer types the GOP has to offer. And I would be stoked to see her team of surrogates: Bill, Barack, Michelle, and Joe. Talk about the A team. Not one on that list that will be under 65% popularity.

Here's another name. Elliot Spitzer. he has some baggage, but who doesn't. America loves a fighter, and he has that kind of image. He'd probably have trouble with the Christian vote, but he could always say that brought him closer to Jesus or whatever all those hooker-chasing TV preachers say. That seems to work for them.

There is no other party more deserving than to see our first black/ woman/ Latino President than ours. I think at the end of the day, she's the same Hillary from 08. Love her or hate her, you have an opinion. And people are going to be hungry for new, fresh faces. An anti-Hillary will emerge, and we'll have another primary war.

No public figure is perfect. But I think a lot of people who did not support her in 2008 greatly admire what she has done in the past 4 years and intensely appreciate what Bill did in this election cycle.

If she has the fire in the the belly, she wins the nomination easily.

I really don't. I think Edwards may have been able to (which isn't an argument into how far up shit creek we would have been if that played out.....). But take this poll as an example, she's not even winning in this environment. While not scientific, I think it is telling.

2) Dennis Kucinich won most of the 04 DU Presidential Polls and was neck and neck with Obama in some 08 polls here.
3) Kucinich was accomplishing this here while registering 1% or 2% in polls among registered Democrats.
4) If not for Obama wresting the African American vote from Hillary which is about 30% of Democratic primary voters she would have beat Edwards like a drum.
5) It wasn't until her African American support collapsed that her primary support suffered
6) Even with all those problems she still received more votes than any of of her Democratic primary challengers.

That's so important. If we do not fix that in the next 4 years, we will lose. There is no other Barack Obama out there.

And he does it with a ton of small donors instead of just a few millionaires and billionaires like Romney did it.

I think she's done a good job as SoS, but i still don't completely trust her on foreign policy, i still haven't forgotten her comments about a potential pre-emptive nuclear strike on Iran. Besides, the party needs some fresh faces. I don't want our party to become the "next-in-line" party like the GOP. My choice would be Jon Tester, he has that rural appeal that could help us gain back a lot of working class white folk.

But would heartily support her in 2016.

My only concern is her age and whether she will have the drive to do it all again.

There are Mid-Term Elections where more than a few Republicans in Congress are up for election.
Let's worry about that election first.

By 2016, most of those options would probably be long gone.
Look to 2014 to see who in that group seems prominent, then I'll give an opinion on who I think should run.

And I know Castro is a newbie but Rubio is was also a newbie two years ago and he was almost considered for VP. And I can assure you will be the primary front runner for VP in 2016.

What Dems in DC needs to do is introduce more of Castro and bring him around more often so the public can see more of him in the nxt two years.

I'd say his experience as VP has seasoned him some more, on top of his decades in the Senate. He tore Ryan to pieces, and is a powerful speaker.

Besides, the Republicans underestimate him and think he's a "gaffe machine."

She lost the primary in '08 but she would pull enough of the women vote away from Republicans to win in a landslide in a national election. She's fully vetted and very well known. I can't say the same for the others on this list. We political junkies know Elizabeth Warren but the rest of the country does not.

He has a strong public and private record to campaign on, and he has held up well under the spotlight in recent events such as the Aurora shootings and wildfires. It seems like he is on an upward trajectory still career-wise.

He needs to be elevated to the national scene for people to know him like we do. Maybe a cabinet position?

It would give him a little visibility and experience at the national level. Napolitano might move to DOJ... But I would hate to lose him so soon as governor.

Well, OK I'm not sure if Hillary will still want it. It will be up to her and how she's feeling and whether she's still up for it. Women have longer life expectencies. As long as she's healthy, I see no reason why it will be a problem. Seventy really isn't quite that old.

She'd get my vote at this point. Her husband is perhaps the most popular politician alive in the country. She's probably the most popular female politician. They've also proven to be team players. She already has a ton of experience. The only reason she lost in '08 is because Obama was a once in a generation, transformative candidate (and due to gender alone, Hillary would have been a historic nominee). Edwards, Biden, and Richardson - none of them had a chance. It's actually laughable to compare any of them to either Hillary or Obama.

O'Malley and Cuomo are also intriguing candidates. Warner would be a "safe" but somewhat duller bet. Gillibrand would be interesting, but I'm sure she won't run if Hillary is interested. I like Warren, but not just yet. I think Biden would be too old. And I like him, but he doesn't have the star power Hillary does.

It will be an open election, so we'll see quite a few initially interested. If Hillary enters, much of it will clear out. I think we'll get a better idea who's interested two years from now. We'll also see if republicans will continue going down a path of crazy (most likely they will). I think we're beyond racial/identity politics in our party and at this point we know as a party we can build an effective coalition on the national level as well. We're entering a new era here. Obama has proven that.
