HRC holds 7 point lead in new national poll

Monmouth national poll:
http://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/MonmouthPoll_US_082916/

Likely voters

39% Donald Trump
46% Hillary Clinton
7% Gary Johnson
2% Jill Stein
1% (VOL) Other candidate
5% (VOL) Undecided
0% (VOL) No one

HEAD TO HEAD

42% Donald Trump
49% Hillary Clinton
4% (VOL) Other candidate
5% (VOL) Undecided
0% (VOL) No one

Do you think Hillary Clinton gave special treatment to big donors of the Clinton Foundation when she was Secretary of State or did she do nothing out of the ordinary in the way she treated them?

54% Special treatment
26% Nothing out of the ordinary
20% (VOL) Don't know

Shows the race remains unchanged. This is a poll that will go into the RCP average too.

And +7 in head to head and +7 in a 4 way race is good news too.

partially due to voters believing the false narrative about the CGI (54% believe the "special treatment" narrative). Can't inoculate against stupidity.

This result seems more in line with other national polls which have probably tightened 2-3 points, actually to be expected during August after the conventions. In other words, some of the convention bounce was bound to subside. It may have taken a little longer because of Trump's shenanigans but it still was going to happen.

was part of a post convention bounce. People need to remember that and chill out. I don't think Pres Obama was ever this far ahead of either Romney or McCain.

The last one had her up double-digits. Still a solid lead but I don't like the trend.

That seven percent now with Johnson could shift a few points to Trump as the race tightens. I know a few people who are voting for Johnson because they figure Trump is sure to lose, so they can "burn" their votes in protest. If they see Trump as a possible winner, they may decide to shift to him from Johnson. I don't know. Hard to predict in crazy circumstances.

This is bad cause she was up double digits ?? That was never gonna hold It always tightens closer to election time The average is about 6 to 7 points in the aggregate

I see about the end about the CGI garbage People are just gonna go at the end oh yeah ill just vote for trump anyways and he wins I don't see it she is still
Leading !!! Now if it gets with 2 pts or something on Election Day then but I don't see it tightening to that unless the debates go bad but I don't see it Hillary has a smart campaign team GOTV and run up the score !!
