(135,425 posts)They'd probably throw him in the Rio Grande after fifteen minutes of listening to his bullshit, and tell him to swim home!
Vicente Fox could invite him to his ranch, and let the horsie that skeered "W" bite him (the horse might think he's a giant orange or something).
He could go to a restaurant and order a "taco bowl."

(1,399 posts)From what I've seen of him it seems to be the former but this seems like it's too easy. I mean really, with Joe Ar-piehole potentially coming along too??? Do the political gods ever make it any easier?
The Mexican media and general public have never detested a modern US politician as much as Trump and there is going to be plenty of ugly rioting, Trump-piñata beatings, burnings of orange wigs, etc along with absolutely brutal media coverage, the likes of which he would never - EVER see here. It will be extensively covered on Mexican TV and the US Spanish speaking channels, now how much they play of it on Fox/CNN/MSNBC will be interesting. I suspect if it gets ugly enough it'll be more likely to get airtime.
Regardless, whatever Peña Nieto does the trip should go over about as well as W paying a visit to Bagdad - and that may be Nieto's point. I certainly hope EPN he doesn't treat him with any semblance of respect, because he deserves absolutely none. I would love to see EPN dress him down, with the recorders rolling, but don't think it'll happen. Unless he gives Don a total beatdown it looks to be a lose-lose for both EPN and Trump, we'll see how it plays out.
Interestingly it could give the Hillary camp an opening if she could plan a trip a couple of weeks later where she not only meets with EPN but then gives a speech in the main square of Mexico City, her own sort of Brandenburg moment. I don't think the Mexican media particularly loves HRC but a decent presidential type speech to the crowd with a positive message of universal respect would be a perfect contrast to the tomato-throwing Trump is likely to get.
My worst fear is that some sort of violent attempt aimed directly at Trump's safety may play exactly into his plans. Hopefully the Mexican government will take his security EXTREMELY seriously, we want lots of videos of protests but nothing worse.

(146,307 posts)but is hardly a popular figure among people with ties to Mexico. I doubt he has many supporters in Mexico, either. I can't even imagine what the point of Trump's visit is. It's bound to generate strong protests in Mexico.
