(47,429 posts)witnessed a public figure with such a limited vocabulary.
Flattening the English language whenever he speaks without a script, Trump relies heavily on words such as very and great, and the pronouns we and I, which is his favorite word. As any news observer can observe, he lives to diminish his foes by calling them losers, total losers, haters, dumb, idiots, morons, stupid, dummy and disgusting.

I think you could take his vocabulary and fit it into one of those boxes of word magnets that they sell. You'd have to make a lot duplicates if you wanted to make an entire sentence though. "I am very, very, very rich. Very rich, believe me folks."

(3,284 posts)That last sentence you wrote sounds exactly like him. In fact, I'm almost positive I've heard him say it verbatim.
Sad!

(47,429 posts)I can't stand listening to him, but on the other, I am fascinated by how little he ever says with a mere handful of words. I understand the appeal of some con-artists and grifters, but Trump lacks the skills that usually come with such people. Harold Hill in The Music Man was charming, articulate, and good looking. Even though he lied, he actually said something.

(90,679 posts)I was thinking the same thing. No one could butcher the English language quite like Bush, but he had a bigger vocabulary than Trump, even if you discount his made-up words. Is this what Idiocracy looks like in real life?

(90,679 posts)It was the first cold-type print shop in Honolulu (told you it was a long time ago) so that made the news. We had a couple of word-processor people, some layout and graphic designers, and a half-dozen human proofreaders going over the galley sheets with blue pencil in hand and spec sheet on the side. Still have my steel ruler.
Standards. >sigh< Had to turn off the auto-correct function on my iPad mini because it was pathologically useless.

(50,557 posts)All-caps settings all suck. There's no getting around it. The solution is to either drop the point size, go to a condensed font or both, and put a lot of space between the letters; a +250 to +400 track would be about right.
