Latinos for Trump founder warns of ‘taco trucks on every corner’

A founder of the Latinos for Trump group on Thursday warned that without Donald Trump in the White House, there would be “taco trucks on every corner” in America.

“My culture is a very dominant culture,” the Mexican-born Marco Gutierrez said on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes.” “It is imposing and it’s causing problems. If you don’t do something about it, you’re going to have taco trucks on every corner.”

Joy Reid, who was guest-hosting Hayes’ show, cut him off, saying, “I don’t even know what that means, and I’m afraid to ask,” before going to New York state Sen. Adriano Espaillat, a Dominican, for a reaction.
“I’m offended,” Espaillat said.

Gutierrez defended himself, saying, “We have a lot of good things that we’re bringing to the United States, but we also have problems.”

One of the better ways to reconcile people to diversity has to be really good food brought right to them. As it is, I used to go a long way (back street of an industrial area in California) to my favorite truck for tamales.

A good tamale beats a taco anyday. Not too much masa, and some well seasoned stringy beef or chicken, with a really good sauce on top. YUMMM!

Of course I might be influenced by the fact that the last time I had a taco from Torchy's (Obama visited one here in Austin recently), it came complete with one of those stretch cloth pony tail bands in it, which I kept trying to chew before I finally spit it out and discovered that it was not just a tough piece of meat. I texted customer service with a picture attached but got no reply at all.

Our friend Maria always put an unpitted black olive -- unpitted important for flavor -- in her chicken tamales. If there were more than 2 of us here most of the time, I'd probably finally break down and make them myself. Even Maria, running 2 businesses but with 2 daughters to help, only made them for a couple parties a year.

Can be found at taco trucks - at least when I lived in Tulsa.

I lived in a pretty Hispanic neighborhood, and I saw people go from paying a fee to set up a taco truck in the parking lot of an auto parts store to owning their own restaurant. Those cats are the living embodiment of the American dream and should be commended.

Plus, TACOS, goddammit!

What a revelation, and all this time we'd been told that Latino immigrants are rapists, dope dealers, and murderers. It turns out that quite a few are actually honest and hard-working food venders. When Hillary wins, who do I talk to assure that my neighborhood is not overlooked as a taco truck location?

It's slamming small business owners!

In order to operate a food truck you have to have a permit, be inspected, pay taxes etc. These are people working hard to make a living. More food trucks means more small business owners means a growing economy means...

well... in any case, F*ck that guy.

Coincidentally, Saturday night was 'Jimmy Buffet Night' at our local minor league baseball stadium. No Margaritas, sadly, but they always serve beer at the lower concourse concessions and in the stands there's a beer booth from a local craft brewer.

What we need is Margaritas in the taco trucks on every corner!

Donald Trump's visit to an African American church in Detroit brought both cheers and protests Saturday — but one of the star attractions was a taco truck. One of the humble vehicles, which now straddle the worlds of political symbol and internet meme, was parked outside.
