2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRachel: Kellyanne Conway lied to my face.
Rachel directly asked Kellyanne Conway if Roger Ailes was advising or working on the Trump campaign. Conway denied it and said she wasn't at an August 14th meeting in which Trump met with Ailes. But NYT says Ailes and Conway were together at another meeting a few days later and Ailes is advising.
Rachel is pissed and said "She lied to my face and I want an explanation."

I wonder if the campaign has just actually given up entirely on the female vote, if Bannon has vanquished the "little ladies." Told them to go make him a sandwich.

(14 posts)Conway flat out lied, but everyone in Trump's crew lie, all the time. It's a total chaotic ball of fire and they are all getting burned!
It also consumes all that come in contact with them, but none will be burned worst than "Bishop" Wayne T Jackson, the Detroit preacher who has sold his soul to the devil. The closed door meeting takes place tomorrow Saturday, 9/3/2016.
BTW, Trump and his people are so lazy they missed this.

I kind of doubt they would go to this church had they seen this, but with Trump you never know, after all "he's a Washington outsider". All they had to do is a web search. It is said Mark Burns facilitated this meeting, the same Mark Burns who tweeted the black face Hillary Clinton cartoon and who just got caught in a lie about his education by CNN's Victor Blackwell. He sat there shell shocked.
Busted!

(14,732 posts)I mean, who would ever have thought that one of Trump's Campaign Managers would ever lie when being interviewed by a Liberal TV host? Unthinkable.

(8,965 posts)Of course she knew that Conway was lying about Ailes. Of course she knew the truth would come out, and she prefaced that eventuality with the appropriate question. And of course Rachel knows full well that professional journalists refrain from labeling the subject of an interview as being a liar, when it good time they may very well reveal it for themselves. And bingo, that is precisely what happened. Rachel called Conway out as soon as the truth surfaced, and she knew early-on that it was just a matter of time . It just didn't happen in real time, nor could it.
COLGATE4
(14,732 posts)segment telling the world that she was upset because she had been lied to? If she was two steps ahead as you maintain there's no reason for her to be making a big deal over it now.

(14,732 posts)during the 'interview' and that now letting us know how pissed she is that - unbelievably - Conway lied to her is not really very informative except as it regards Rachel's discernment.

(47,209 posts)about it? And that this is all about Rachel's hurt feelings, nothing to see here? LOL. Nope, Rachel is way too professional. The fact that she treats people with respect seems to have confused you.
It's news and she is reporting it. For fucks sake we should appreciate that every time a reporter does this. It's all too rare.

Conway had no idea what the red scare was, and so was OK connecting them as if both were positive events.

(365 posts)To those of you who think she was naive, it was a direct answer to a direct question.
Not only did KC lie by commission, by saying Ailes wasn't an unofficial advisor, but also by omission, by not mentioning another date where KC supposedly was there along with Ailes.
She could have simply said that the one time she saw Ailes it was during a non-policy luncheon.
Rachel Maddow expects evasions or lies, but this one came from someone who thought she had covered her tracks.
It was Rachel, so it was still polite & grounded, but underneath was a glorious righteous fury.

(14,732 posts)This was her 'big catch', getting an interview with Motormouth Conway. So she lets Conway get away with her Gish Gallop of falsehoods, believing at that time that Conway was telling the truth. Now, when she discovers that - surprise! - Conway was lying to her, Rachel dedicates a segment to telling her audience how pissed she is that Conway lied to her. And here she though that they were going to be BFF's.

(8,515 posts)Love this definition...If you have not run into the Gish...Please be aware.
From Urban Dictionary
Named for the debate tactic created by creationist shill Duane Gish, a Gish Gallop involves spewing so much bullshit in such a short span on that your opponent cant address let alone counter all of it. To make matters worse a Gish Gallop will often have one or more 'talking points' that has a tiny core of truth to it, making the person rebutting it spend even more time debunking it in order to explain that, yes, it's not totally false but the Galloper is distorting/misusing/misstating the actual situation. A true Gish Gallop generally has two traits.
1) The factual and logical content of the Gish Gallop is pure bullshit and anybody knowledgeable and informed on the subject would recognize it as such almost instantly. That is, the Gish Gallop is designed to appeal to and deceive precisely those sorts of people who are most in need of honest factual education.
2) The points are all ones that the Galloper either knows, or damn well should know, are totally bullshit. With the slimier users of the Gish Gallop, like Gish himself, its a near certainty that the points are chosen not just because the Galloper knows that they're bullshit, but because the Galloper is deliberately trying to shovel as much bullshit into as small a space as possible in order to overwhelm his opponent with sheer volume and bamboozle any audience members with a facade of scholarly acumen and factual knowledge.

(58,724 posts)Everybody should just present their case for what they believe and why instead of playing these games.
I have a lot more respect for the Republicans that actually have principles (misguided and wrongheaded as they may be) and present their arguments as opposed to the ones who just do nothing but spin and BS.
There is just no point with some of these Trump-heads who will just blindly defend anything and everything he says and does to the point of just obvious ridiculousness.
