2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCall me crazy...didn't Trump insinuate at the beginning of his campaign he engaged in pay for play?
Back in the primaries, where he claimed he wasn't going to take donors' money and was going to self-finance his campaign (even though he actually did take donations), wasn't his excuse something to the effect that he's been on the other end, and that he's given money to public officials to help his own projects?
I swear he said something to that effect. Can anyone confirm?
And if so, we shouldn't be surprised at all about the Pam Bondi revelations. Sickened, yes. Surprised, no.
On edit:
Youd better believe it, Trump said. If I ask them, if I need them, you know, most of the people on this stage Ive given to, just so you understand, a lot of money.
.......
Without missing a beat, the real estate tycoon continued: I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them, and they are there for me. . . . And thats a broken system.
